Hello all. My DD has her app done since early Feb. Still has the "no decision" status. Post if you are still waiting to hear back. Does anyone know how many scholarships are left to be awarded? Is this "anyone" able to post the number up? Hoping for a big number left. Good luck to everyone waiting!!

The most recent board awarded 177 Navy scholarships. Most of the boards I have seen have awarded north of 100 scholarships each. I do not know how many will be awarded on the final board.

I've had my application in since the 1st board, still waiting. We'll not really, as I'm now working to improve all my scores and resubmit sometime in my freshman year after talking to my NROTC advisor. Just have to work harder.

DD's app for nursing has been complete since October. Still pending a decision. Just wondering if anyone knows if any nursing scholarships have been awarded?

Yes, one or two have been awarded on most of the previous boards.

DS's app has been in since early fall. Still waiting for word from NROTC. He was applying for an LREC scholarship, so it was a long shot.

He is currently assuming that the answer will be a no and that he will join the NROTC unit as a College Program midshipman.

I saw mention in other threads of re-applying for a 4 year scholarship before arriving at the college for freshman year. These threads were mostly related to MO. Is this something that is possible, or must he wait until arriving at the unit and/or only apply for a 3 year scholarship.

He can re-apply for the Navy 4-year and is encouraged to do so. He can start the app over the summer and should. However, I'd strongly recommend not submitting it until conferring with the staff at his future unit this fall, as they will likely be able to give him some guidance/advice on making his app more competitive.

Son's application was in for first board. Still waiting on a decision. This is his Plan A... Plan B has already fallen by the wayside... Plan C is already in place, and he's more than content, but would love the "hassle" of changing everything back to Plan A if a NROTC scholarship was awarded. Plan A and Plan C are pretty different... so we've prayed that whatever the right path for him is... it is to be made clear. Getting a scholarship (or not) makes it clear... so it's all good with us. Good luck everyone!

Whereas my guy got rejected the first time he was looked at for NROTC. (He wants to major in International Relations.) So, people have definitely been getting rejected all along.
(As a consolation prize he has appointments to USAFA and USMA--a better fit for the liberal arts major).

DS is also waiting, but ready to start reapplying while a college programmer. Will the recommendations be from senior year high school teachers/coach or freshman college year? Thanks

Honestly, I am a bit perplexed. My SAT equivalent scores are a 1426 (31 ACT); 3.83 gpa; 8 AP's including AP Lit, Lang, AP BC Calculus, AP Physics, etc; Eagle Scout; Co-Capt. of varsity football team (4 years of play); 3 years of varsity tennis; top rating on my interview (according to my interviewer who said he "saw no reason that I would not get the scholarship"); Crew and cast member of 4 x state champions in One Act competition and involvement in musical theater including set design and fly system chief; Tier 1 applicant (aerospace engineering) - the only "weakness" could have been my PRT which was just below 7 min. mile (I'm a lineman).

I feel like if there was some glaring negative in my application, they would have denied me already, but most everything seems be within or above what they're looking for. Any insight as to where my deficiencies are and what may be holding my app back?

swb - I know of at least one other candidate in the same boat with very similar stats, still waiting on the final board...

1430 SAT, 4.2 WGPA, BC Calc, AP physics, etc., varsity/captain/allstar in two sports, NHS, MathNHS, lots of great leadership and service, outstanding references, and excellent interview feedback as well. PRT maxed pushups, maxed sit-ups, 6:09 mile

i wonder how many scholarships are remaining and how many candidates are still waiting to hear. is it possible that many of the USNA appointees have also received NROTC scholarships and haven't declined yet?

best of luck to you, should know one way or the other in a few days

I have been wondering the same about what they do with the scholarships offered to people who don't accept them.

Thanks for that info - at least I know I'm in good company. . .
