NROTC First Board Results

For those of you who have been informed that you will receive a 4 year scholarship, but there is a blank for which college or university, it could be for a couple reasons. Depending on which university you have applied for, and whether or not they have formally accepted you, this may cause our Navy system to leave a blank until that is resolved. The intent is to not confuse a student who believes they are guaranteed admittance to a university because they received an email from the scholarship board. The other potential reason is we sometimes try to balance the number of Midshipmen across all of the NROTC units. It doesn't happen all that much, but it does happen. If you have access to the specific NROTC unit, they may already know if you have been accepted. Hope that helps a little.

My NROTC Scholarship Technician called me around 4:00 PM EST to tell me that I had received a 4-year National Scholarship from the October Board, and my scholarship portal reflected this as of this afternoon as well. I assume this might mean all results from the first NROTC board have been released? I didn't see an NROTC-specific results/discussion thread, so I figured I'd start one here. Best of luck everyone and congratulations to all winners!
Congratulations to all the winners!

Anyone from this board release receive the NROTC Scholarship Nurse Option? Our portal still saying pending.

Well that's new. In the past, acceptance by the college was a totally independent process. Maybe I'm misreading something?

Welcome to your first hour onboard, @GWU PNS ! We have needed another NROTC leader here since Navy NoLa moved on. I just steered a poster to GWU NROTC the other day, who didn’t realize Georgetown was a consortium member.

Congrats to all of you!
Mine hasn't changed yet, and I know I cut it pretty close to the deadline for getting the application in for this board. Anyone know if they're still releasing the decisions for this one, or if I should just assume I need to wait for the next board to hear anything?
DS was told there were only 50 on the first NROTC board and that reference was before scholarship info was released, so not sure if that is packets reviewed or awarded.

Just spoke with one of the reps from NSTC who shepherds the process. The board results will continue to update and populate the website. There will be an email to awardees explaining the process in detail for accepting the scholarship (some also apply to USNA and get accepted.....they need to choose), and part of the acceptance process is submitting the acceptance letter from the university.

Happy to be here. Proud to serve. I hope to "row well and live" as the saying goes. Just mentioned to my boss regarding the issue of the website not reflecting the universities that this is not unusual, but if it's your first time with a scholarship, then everything seems unusual.

The website reflected my first choice/assigned university as of this morning, which I have not received an admissions decision from yet. I see there's another person in the thread who confirmed the same occurrence (placement being shown in the portal after not being there last night) with their DS. I also got the official email GWU PNS mentioned, so it seems that some of the concerns from last night were updated this morning.

We know you are a busy PNS at a large unit in a high-profile area, but for a break, do drop by the Off-Topic Forum (avoid the ones with issues hotly bubbling), and find the Bacon, Cocktail and Everything Drawer threads to get some R&R. Once you visit the Bacon forum, you will understand why bacon references appear in the oddest places in other forums.

I might do that here in a few. I have a couple more sideload scholarship interviews to complete, and if I am hearing things correctly outside my door, I need to rescue a young Midshipmen who apparently did not answer our Gunny's professional development question correctly.

Our websites are a mix of about 6 different databases all trying to work together, but not always effectively. Some will update near instantaneously, and others will get stuck. I could try and explain the how and why, but it's pretty random. I can only promise that the team of civil service folks who hand jam the numbers know how important this is, and they work overtime to make it all come together. That doesn't help when you are anxiously awaiting, but thought I would throw it out there anyway. As an aside, sometimes we know the university's acceptance decision before you get their letter.

A big SAF Welcome to CAPT Meyers....
An NROTC subject matter expert is always welcome here on the forum!

Thank you for your time, service and expertise!

Wondering if there's any hope for a future NROTC award if my son's application used to have a link to change schools and now that's gone....The AROTC boards suggested that the "lock" of school selection meant something, but that may be unique to Army. Also seems like NROTC Board issue awards more often?

There are more NROTC boards for Navy options. Often 1 a month. There are only 2 boards for Marine options and I think 1 for Nurse options.

Great. Thanks. He’s Navy option so that’s good to know.

Based on the past any idea when or what board the Nurse option is discussed?

It's a separate board. I'm not sure when they meet. The board is chaired by <drum roll> Nursing officers.
