NROTC ISR long delay

Hello, back in December I received notification from my NROTC coordinator about being selected for the ISR program. I finished my application, and went to interview with the CO of my recruiting district-- and it went excellently. I signed the ISR form and was very happy. He said the final thing is just admin review and I basically have the scholarship so long as I keep my grades up, stay out of trouble, etc.

It's been almost a month now and I haven't received an email yet from anything related to NROTC like the coordinator said, and I'm wondering how long this usually takes. A few weeks ago my application was missing items that I sent in, and now it says it is at the final processing stage awaiting decision. I've sent an email or two to my coordinator over the past two months and haven't gotten a reply and am slightly concerned and wonder if I should try calling. Is the status of an ISR reflected by anything on NETFOCUS? Do I still go through the normal board selection process even with an ISR?

I mean, I signed the paperwork so I'm not too concerned about losing the scholarship or anything, I'm just concerned about what this means for school selection. The way it was explained to me was that once I got the email I could choose my school and unit from there and be set.

I guess a slightly related question is about how competitive NROTC placement at TAMU is. It's my first choice school and I absolutely love it-- and would hate to lose it to the vague process of the ISR.

You need to reach out to the CO directly.
When you call, his assistant will ask what it is concerning. Just explain the situation and that your calls to your coordinator have not been returned. I am confident you will get a response from someone quickly.

If you were awarded an ISR in Dec. the fact that you haven't received a school assignment yet helps explain the silence on the results from the third board.

Something must be holding up the process.

TAMU is very competitive, but getting a scholarship in Dec, you should be fine.

Last year my DS was awarded an ISR in the beginning of September. He had all his paperwork in at the time the ISR was awarded. He did not get the official notification on his NETFOCUS account until after the November board. Nothing was noted on NETFOCUS before then, other than status updates of documents being received and processed and that everything was ready for the board. I don't remember the exact wording of the status updates. Even though the CO of your recruiting district awards the ISR, it still goes the the selection board for review and approval and you are assigned to a unit. You should be assigned to your first choice unit, as long as there is an opening at that unit.

If your NETFOCUS account says you are awaiting a decision, it sounds like everything as at the selection board and just waiting for approval. If it's only been a month, I wouldn't worry yet (okay I did when my DS was going through it). You had some documents that were missing as of a few weeks ago. It takes time to get them processed and get everything sent to the board, then you have to wait for a board to actually look at and approve your ISR.

Congratulations on your scholarship, by the way.

I wasn't actually awarded a scholarship yet, not officially. It's not word of mouth as I did all the paperwork for ISR, but not exactly official either. I should probably just relax but I'm concerned about not getting a place at TAMU. I have backup schools of course, but I would be just as happy attending TAMU as USNA.
