Nrotc Marine Option?

Sounds like a great Plan A to me! USNA prepares you well to be a Marine. Take the opportunities to join Semper Fi and get involved with the Marines on the yard. Marines love being Marines and they love to influence future Marines.

Thank you everyone for your support but I am embarrassed and don't want to mislead anyone - my Plan A worked out and I've been accepted to the USNA class of 2020. I am sorry about the confusion. I just saw the question and wanted to answer it from what I knew in case it could be helpful.
wannabe...congrats on USNA...we r from CT as well...my son just got the rejected/denied appoint email from USNA yesterday but has 4 year AROTC scholarship he's using at BC...all good in the end...good luck at Annapolis...and semper fi..

Thank you. Congratulations on the scholarship and I am sure your son will create success wherever he goes.

My DS just received the "Your application has not been selected for a scholarship... Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection." He only selected to accept a scholarship at VMI to which he has already been offered an appointment.

So his plan is to join his older brother at VMI. This just means I have to pay the out of state tuition costs this year (we are from AZ). But can anyone tell me what the second part means?

Denied here as well.
Luckily my son got an AROTC scholarship for Norwich, his first choice.
Go Army.

We just checked portal as well. Same message "Your application has not been selected for a scholarship. Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection."

On to plan B.

I don't know this, but I would bet cherished body parts that this is just a remnant of an earlier state in his application processing that is now meaningless. Keep in mind you may be paying out of state tuition for 4 years.

I still have yet to receive any word though I am keeping my hopes up as my application still says "Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection".

Each Marine Corps district can do it differently. Our district personally notified the winners before anything was posted.

I just logged on the portal at netfocus.netc.navy.mil/ to see if any changes were made to status. As of yesterday, it still stated at the Marine board. Today, when I logged in, it takes me directly to fill out an application and does not show the other status. Is this happening to anyone else?

Same here. I was told we would know by end of next week by my Captain POC.

If the portal is redirecting you to the new application year, you might try clearing your cache and logging back in. I seem to remember reading about these types of issues last year at the same time. Search the forum around last April 1 and you might find a better answer.

If I remember correctly, it may display both the previous year and the upcoming year -- but defaults to the "new" year.
