NROTC-MO Board Ready??

I realize the NROTC-MO is district driven but is it reflected on the portal that your application is "Board ready"? DS isn't sure and is getting concerned since the "Nov. Boards" are coming up - any date btw? - is there a deadline for all material to be "board-ready"? If so, I would imagine it would be soon.

DS took his PFT at a recruiting station with another Marine 2 weeks ago but did not get a copy of the results. Marine said he would forward them on - DS maxed on all sections of the PFT so he definitely wants to be sure they are included in his package. Everything else was completed months prior. DS has reached out to his contact/interviewer (forgiven on my lack of acronym knowledge) to confirm that he received his PFT results and ask about a complete package but has not received a response - the contact had previously mentioned that he would be moving on soon to either another post or retiring - not sure.

DS is sending another email to both the contact and the Marine who gave the PFT.

Any info on how to see if "board-ready" or dates of board/deadline for packets or suggestions is greatly appreciated. DS has worked hard all summer on all sections of this application and would like to be presented to 1st board and hopes he isn't lost in the shuffle of bureaucracy - I know, welcome to the military :)

Thank you in advance

My DS has been in close contact with the Marine Captain who did his officer interview. He is keeping DS posted on any items still needed on his application

Your DS likely had an interview with an OSO (Officer Selection Officer). Was he the one who administered the PFT or was it an enlisted Marine? Your DS can reach out to the OSO and inquire if his packet is complete.

In the past the portal was reliably unreliable. I don't know if things have improved but I wouldn't rely on this tool for your status.

I am having some doubts as to how thorough they are. The OSO asked us for the signed form giving parental permission to take the PFT again last week after we already provided it and after DS had already the PFT twice! I guess it’s good they are still checking his application package.

Marine Officers "pay attention to detail." Doubting the thoroughness of all Marine OSO's based on your experience with one individual seems like a unfair conclusion.

Perhaps you should start from the perspective that there could be another explanation rather than disparage the OSO.

Hey, everyone makes mistakes. I didn’t mean to disparage anyone. But it was odd.

If I were going to disparage anyone, it would be the teachers and guidance counselors at his high school who seem to be very lackadaisical about completing the forms they need to send in. That’s why it’s good to check with the OSO. Don’t just rely on the portal. DS just told me his OSO told him his application is complete. If he doesn’t get the scholarship he has a Plan B. I am proud of him for applying.

Hello all,

Ironically, DS's portal was updated today to say he is board-ready - someone was listening. Let's hope they gave him the correct PFT score as there was another candidate who did poorly. Thanks for all the advice.

Thanks for the suggestions. His teachers and guidance counselor did state that they sent everything in on their end. He still hasn't received a confirmation email response back but the portal was just updated so maybe the email confirmation is coming too. I agree it would be nice to have both forms of confirmation.

Does anyone know the dates of the first board or is it decided per district?

Thank you all!

I read this on rotcconsulting.com:

“Note that each Marine Corps Recruiting district holds their own board. Boards are normally conducted in the first two weeks of the month. [I believe November]

Board results are usually announced one month after the board concludes.”

If true, we may not hear anything about NROTC-MO scholarships until December

Just one data point - the 1st Board results for District 6 were released on 22 Nov 2019 the year my DS was a candidate. 2nd Board results were released on 3 March 2020. As stated, each District holds independent Boards and the timing of results varies. In past years, final results did not come out until April.

My DS' NROTC package says review pending on the portal. Any idea when results are released?
If he was awarded a scholarship he'll probably hear within two weeks of the board based on past history here. If not awarded a scholarship it might be mid-April before you are notified of the results - scholarship or not. They only notify winners until the final board.

If he is applying MO, as indicated by the thread title, remember there are only two boards, usually held in Nov. or Mar.

So, will all the Marine Option districts Round One Boards meet sometime in early Nov (with exact dates varying by District) with the hope of results 2-4 weeks following board? Is tit posted somewhere to find out the dates of a specific district board?

TIA

It's not posted that I know of. I think the board is late Nov and results come out between mid-Dec and Christmas (usually).
