DS received an email from a Marine recruiting officer referencing his application to USNA and encouraging him to apply for the NROTC scholarship. DS did apply NROTC and should be on the first board next week. His portal looks like everything is board ready.

Should he be concerned something is not on track with the NROTC application or is Marine recruiting casting a wide net to USNA applicants before checking the NROTC application status? Also, do the Navy - MO applications go before a board too or are they awarded by individual geographic offices? Thanks

Sounds like he is casting a wide net. But it is a very good idea to have a Plan B. Even with a perfect application, appointment to USNA is a crap shoot.

No need to worry. Just a recruiter doing recruiter things. Applying for an ROTC scholarship as an SA applicant is great advice. Always good to have options.

No clue where they get their info. Bc I’m a mom, and my oldest is air force, and two at USNA. Not even a plebe!

I didn’t respond so they can take my number off that list. Must be recruiting season??

My son is at USMA, and now and then I still get calls from recruiters asking if he wants to enlist, especially from Army and Marine Corps recruiters. How did they get MY phone number???

It depends. If he applied for the NROTC-MO scholarship, it’s likely that his local recruiting office was notified. NROTC-MO scholarships are awarded through recruiting battalions.
