NROTC MO scholarship DoDMERB ?

My son was told by the recruiter that he wouldn't be scheduled for a physical with DoDMERB unless he got the scholarship as they don't waste time and money on non scholarship winners. Is this the way it is done?
 
My DS has also applied for an NROTC MO Scholarship and I believe all that was required was the completed Physical Evaluation form from his doctor. He has also applied to USNA and was qualified by DoDMERB, different application and process. From what I have seen this is the way it appears to be done for the NROTC MO Scholarship. No experience on my part and completely new to this...just what I've learned from this forum.
 
He got an email today from DoDMERB to start the process,so should we assume this is a good thing? I thought the board didn't sit till the end of the month. There is no change on his portal or emails from the recruiter.

Did he apply to a SA that would have triggered the medical exam. For ROTC medical exams are not requested until after a scholarship is awarded. It is odd that DoDMERB would knows of a scholarship before you do.

Let's hope that is a scholarship and not a DoDMERB screw up.
 
It could be that there is a "lull" in DoDMERB workload since most of the academy applicants have probably already completed the process. They may just be trying to get a leg up on getting ROTC applicants processed. There are some applicants sent to DoDMERB each year who have not received a scholarship when they were sent.

Just one thing that occurred.... DS should be checking his email and also his email spam folder just in case.
 
Nothing in the spam folder. Wouldn't the recruiter contact him if he got a scholarship?

They did not last year for DS NROTC scholarship award. Just and email and portal update. A letter followed sometime later.
 
Does anyone know when the board sits in FEB? He didn't get the early board obviously.
 
The board meetings occur at the district level. Each one has somewhat different dates and they appear to be a closely guarded secret.
