NROTC-MO Scholarship

Anyone have any further insight on the notification process for the MO scholarship. I saw that 2 people were awarded the scholarship on this sight and 1 was reboarded. My son has not heard anything. He checks his status daily online. Very anxious!

My son did not receive a scholarship from the first board his senior year. We didn't hear he was reboarded until mid Jan from the officer who had interviewed him. We did not hear he had not received a scholarship from the second board until mid-April. Fortunately plan B was ready to go and execute. Do not give up hope but be sure plan B is in place.

In our case DS went to #1 OOS school and enrolled in NROTC as a College Programmer. He is now in his sophomore year and just received a 2.5 year in-school (sideload) scholarship. There are multiple paths to a scholarship and/or commission.

Good Luck. Hope you hear something soon. I know the waiting is terrible. :thumb:

Thanks Cindy and Kinnem.

He definitely has a backup plan and has been accepted to all of his schools with merit money and Honors Program status. We will wait!

Reboarded

Just received word that I too am being reboarded. Plan B is now about to start and I have contacted my OSO about having my application returned to me in order to edit said application. Contacted the webmaster and should hear back in a few days (they deserve more of a holiday break than anyone else). OSO said that I will be extremely competitive for the second board.

Also am looking into reserve DEP in order to show my commitment to the Corps. Good luck to all those who have been reboarded!

Erik would you mind posting your stats? How were you notified? Do you feel that if you haven't heard by now that you will be reboarded?

Other:
-PFT 280
-OSO said he gave me really strong marks after interviews
-Applying to USNA, have one Nomination. Think I am 3 Q'd. This hurt me, my OSO said, due to the fact that they would lose a scholarship if I turned it down for the USNA. Also attended NASS

I was notified by an email from my OSO during school, but I know some are notified by phone call. If you haven't heard by now, keep your chin up. The results trickle in. With this in mind, have a plan B as mentioned before in this thread. Although we all want to serve in the MC as officers, there is only so much room and budget cuts and such so be ready for college without the scholarship.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
Erik

MO NROTC Question

Anybody else heard back from the early board? I was told that I would be informed before Christmas, but I never received any calls, email, or status change. I'm in 6th district Florida if that helps. Getting really nervous but having a back up plan really helps if this option fails. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats! I'm in the "waiting" mode. Had a lot of problems with my paperwork getting "lost in the system" and "misplaced" when the Lt. working my file was sent back to the fleet. Was picked up on 1st boards for AROTC and AFROTC, but NROTC MC option is my 1st choice. My 2nd semester course selections depend on where I am going to school next year, so it would be really helpful to hear something by the end of the year. The waiting game is NOT a fun game!

Awarded my scholarship to Michigan. However, I won the principal to USNA so I'll end up giving up the scholarship.

Stats:
3.7 (Weighted)- AP US History, Honors Biology, Honors Modern Literature and Arts, Honors Philosophy, AP US Government, AP MicroEconomics, AP MacroEconomics, AP Calculus, AP World History, Honors Debate, Honors Shakespeare

PT Test: 21:58 3 Mile Run, 8 Pullups, 69 Crunches (Below average)

ACT: 32 Composite: 29 English, 34 Math, 33 Reading, 32 Science

Sports: Varsity Swimming

Leadership: Lead trainer at my work, Lead Sales at my work, Leader in Church, Lead Missionary at Church,

Hooks: I work at Sears as a commissioned salesman for 20+ hrs/week and I am nationally ranked. I lead my department in sales per hour, "purchase agreements" (extended warranties) and accessories. I also interned for my local state representative

Still waiting as 2012 ends

 Since my status hasn't changed and I haven't heard from the recruiter "working" my file, I suppose that means I have been reboarded. It would be nice to have the official information though.

Are there really only 2 selection boards for MO ROTC?

So 2013 will find me working with plan E (plans A,B,C and D are still in waiting mode) in mind.

Good luck to all those waiting and stalking the mailbox! May 2013 be your year of good news!

Yes, there are only 2 selection boards for Marine Option. I hope backup plans include schools with NROTC units and that you plan on participating as a college programmer if need be. DS just received a 2.5 year in school scholarship so there is more than one way to skin this cat if you're willing to work at it. :thumb:

I have an AROTC and AFROTC school. Everyone in my area said I should apply NROTC instead of MCROTC because there have been so many negative experiences with MCROTC selection in this area. I really wanted to go MO if I went NROTC so I chanced it and now it looks like I am paying the price. My sister is at Auburn on NROTC (Nurse Corps) and that is my MO choice, but for now I am going with AFROTC as USF, since it's the best offer on the table.
