NROTC MO Status

My son's portal updated Last Sunday. No scholarship this year, he will reapply for next yr. My junior at Norwich received a 4 yr scholarship his freshman year ( he didn't apply for it in high school) . He just took the pilot test and passed that. His brother hopefully will follow suit and get it next year.

Some more information for future questions, this is for the 4th Marine District. Only 38 total scholarships, rare as hen's teeth.

The Regular selection board only offered 38 scholarships to award and considered factors such as your high school class standing, courses taken (AP, etc.), grades received, Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Test (ACT) scores, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) score, reference evaluations, interviews, participation in extracurricular activities, and demonstrated leadership qualities.

For those of you who annotated interest and applied for Frederick C. Branch (FCB) and Pedro Del Valle (PDV) Scholarships on your NROTC applications, selection board is schedule to take place next week 27-31 March 2017. I expect to receive those results by mid-to-late April 2017.

While you were not selected during Fiscal Year 2017 Regular Selection board, you are still qualified to re-apply in Fiscal Year 2018 during your freshman year in college in an effort to earn your commission and serve your Country in the Marine Corps. For those of you currently college freshman, talk with your MOI about the side-load scholarship. Many of you have very competitive applications and will be awarded an NROTC scholarship in the future. I encourage you to speak with your local recruiter about pursuing enlisted career and/or Officer Selection Officer about Platoon Leaders Class (PLC).

Official correspondence will be mailed to you next month after FCB and PDV Selection board is complete.
