I just checked my portal and it says I've received a National NROTC scholarship Navy option to Florida A&M(HBCU). Is this the MSISR scholarship that I've received or is it a National Scholarship?(I did apply for MSISR) If it is a national would it be possible to change schools?

Good morning,
Congratulations on your 4 year! My son received the MSISR scholarship for University of New Mexico. MSISR is almost completely based on the strength of the interview you gave with the Naval Science Officer so again, congrats on leaving such a great impression! The way this scholarship works is that it is functionally a National 4 year with all the same perks as any other 4 year except it can only be use at the HBCU/HSI that you marked on your application. The NROTC department of that school actually nominates you to receive the scholarship and it is non-transferable. Depending on the school, it can be just as competitive as a standard 4 year. If you're happy with the school choice, it's a great opportunity.

Congratulations.... please add your information to the thread “Navy ROTC Class of 2022. You will see the format

My son was offered the National 4 year to Purdue. We have no experience with this.

I submitted a transfer request via email before I read your post. After reading I submitted another email to the placement office saying to scrap the requests. Will this take away my scholarship??

If you have already accepted the scholarship through Netfocus, then you're good. If not, I suggest you accept it as soon as possible. You don't have to make a decision on the scholarship until the fall before the start of your first semester. The only way the scholarship can be taken away is by actually declining the offer to Florida A&M either online or by printing and mailing in the survey the Department of the Navy emailed you with your award notification. If you're still unsure about your status, you can always contact the NROTC unit at Florida A&M or send an inquiry using the link in the Award email. If you do decide to decline, don't forget to call and thank the Naval Science Officer whom you interviewed with at Florida A&M. The fact that you got the scholarship meant they really wanted you. Good job and good luck! :)
