My DS scholarship(he received ISR back in Nov) showed up within the past hour to Texas A&M...his first choice(Engineer). Still waiting on USNA. Good luck to all...looks like they are making through the apps like clockwork from previous years...it seems.

Congratulations again. I'm sure it's something of a relief to see the paperwork come through.

At long last ....

Today DS was awarded a navy option scholarship to Harvard. His journey is a little different than what is typical, but it's a lesson in perserverence and determination. He is currently a freshman college programmer in the Harvard/MIT/Tufts unit. During his senior year of high school, he applied to USNA. He received an LOA in October 2012 and an appointment in November 2012. He also applied for the NROTC scholarship that same Fall. With an appointment to USNA in hand, he applied early action to Harvard. He was accepted in December 2012. In February 2013 (his last semester of high school), he learned that he was not selected for an NROTC scholarship. After a great deal of thought and deliberation, he turned down the USNA appointment, and enrolled in Harvard as a college programmer. Under new rules in effect this year, he was allowed to apply for the national scholarship and still participate in NROTC as a college programmer. Needless to say, he is one happy midshipman, as are his parents! Thanks to all on this forum who have provided advice, inspiration, and counsel, especially Kinnem, Oldsalt and Marciemi!

Congratulations! Glad to see that "going out on a limb" for your dream can still be rewarded. Not many would have chosen the route your son did but if its the way you want to go, you gotta do it! :thumb:

NROTC Scholarship Notification

My DS got the same news via email & portal. I posted under "NROTC scholarship notification". Not sure which to use now.

University of South Carolina --- T-1
Accepted to their school of engineering back in Dec. Waiting and hoping for that he is accepted to USNA.

Good luck to all...

Congratulations!
I have noticed lately the NROTC scholarship status page shows "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." I can get around this but not sure if it is safe to do so. Does anyone have advice? I would love to go in and see the status (at least every hour!)

Thanks, Luvmycountry! This is killing me...I'm obsessed. Looking forward to knowing one way or the other.

I agree. Patience is not my strong suit. At least with Army and Marines, there are set Board dates, so we know when to expect results. But the Navy...there is no set date...just approximately every two weeks...???? Guess they like surprising people. But it would be nice to know and be able to relax and plan ahead...
