Is the Letter of Rec part of the NROTC nomination factored into the appointment process or is it just used to see if I can potentially be appointed through the NROTC nomination? In other words, if I am not one of the 20 selected to be appointed through the NROTC nom is it still beneficial to have?

I would figure that having any type of a NOM is beneficial at this stage. I would tell you not to worry about how your slated/charged to. The ONLY thing that matters is getting that BFE (appointment). There is also a percentage game of how many are from various sources ie NWL (National Wait List) and others. Again do not worry about things that you can not control. Remember that you put forth your best effort and now let the chips fall as they may. Others may have differing opinions... Good luck and remember to buy the antacids for this roller coaster ride
