Has NROTC november board results come out yet? My portal says "No decision has been made on your application." Does that mean I got reboarded? I am a very competitive applicant.

I received an email yesterday morning that I was awarded the Navy Option scholarship, and my portal updated, allowing me to accept the scholarship. My guess is the board hasn't selected your application yet, so best of luck as it continues in the process!

My son also received an email yesterday to accept the NROTC Scholarship. He was up for an ISR scholarship. We are unsure if he received an ISR scholarship or was selected in the board the regular way. His stats were 1390 SAT 4.0 unweighted GPA, 7 AP classes, Cross Country and Track in Florida. Hope that is helpful.

Can you explain what the difference is between the 2 types ISR and regular?

A ISR is a guarantee from your local Navy recruiting group that you will be selected for a scholarship on the whatever selection board sees your application. This means you basically just skip the national selection process because you have been specially selected by your local recruiting group.

Getting a ISR is usually more competitive than a regular scholarship because your local group only gets like 5 of them ( this varies based off population of their areas my group, NY and NJ, only had 5) to hand out to potentially hundreds or thousands of applicants, applicants who that group thinks are sufficiently outstanding to be guaranteed a scholarship right now.

If you don’t get a ISR you have to be selected normally by the selection board of naval officers ( I believe Captains but am unsure) who will review your packet and assign you a numerical score and ranking. Each board awards scholarships to the top X applicants. For example a board may meet and review 200 applicants and only want to select the top 20, everyone not selected will keep their numerical score and be compared with everyone else again on the next board to see if they are above the cutoff.

With an ISR they still technically review your packet but so long as you meet the hard minimum requirements (SAT and GPA) they must select you no matter what.

What is wrong with my application? I have 12 AP classes, 3.8/4.05 GPA, 1440 SAT, and I intern for University of Southern California and Northrop Grumman. I also did NROTC for 3 years and lead its cyberpatriots team. I was also apart of armed exhibition team. I also do wrestling & lacrosse. In addition, I lead 4 technical clubs and hosted programming events. I also played the violin for 13 years. I have much much more. Is there a reason why I got rejected this board??

There's nothing wrong

If I had to guess I'd say your application was better than mine( although I did have a ISR so the selection board couldn't reject me even if they wanted too). I posted my stats here. For NROTC I was told by my interviewer that my essay on my biggest hardship was very moving, but that likely had far more impact on getting me a ISR then it would have had with the selection board if I didn't have one.

There were only 150 people selected on this board ( they CC'd 150 people in the email), if I had to guess I would assume there are more than 1000 applications that have been submitted. The nature of these things is that they are very competitive and nobody can really say with any certainty they will or will not be selected. ( except for people with a ISR, but then again nobody knows they will get one of those till they get one).

I wasn't selected on the first ROTC or AFROTC boards but was given a ISR back in October.

Im confident you will be selected at some point, buts its certainly possible you won't be just as much as it is possible anyone else won't be. Do know though that these early boards do have fairly high cutoffs and the majority of sections will be made later, they are only trying to select people they are absolutely sure about right now because all of the applications aren't in yet and they don't know how good ( or bad) these future applicants are.

At the end of the day its out of your hands, there is nothing you can do (insert Napoleon there is nothing we can meme here) at this point.

Out of curiosity, what did you list as your desired major?

Bro I honestly think I might just been cooked. I am a dual citizen from Taiwan and my interview was pretty mid. I think it might be over for me. I think if I don't get it this round then I won't get it another round... ion know what went wrong

Do you think I might've made a major blunder in my application? Also, I forgot to mention that I'm also a dual citizen from Taiwan.
I can assure you that the dual citizenship was not a factor at all. There are dual citizenships every year.

You mentioned that your interview was "mid". What gave you that impression? And in terms of your chances, considering that computer engineering is a Tier 2 (unless it changed), then I think you should hang in there and wait to see the results sometime in February 2025.

You can also sign on as a college programmer and get a 3 year scholarship. There are plenty of options remaining.

I stuttered a bit during the interview. I am reboarded to the December board. I could get the results earliest in December rather than February right? I am worried about this because I am applying to many colleges EA and I want the scholarship to play a role in the admissions process.
