NROTC Nursing Scholarship Question

Greetings,

This fall, I applied for the NROTC Nursing option scholarship. While I know it is extremely competitive, I was wondering if anyone has any insight on when decisions will be released. I don’t know if the regular NROTC boards also decide the nursing scholarships, or if there is a completely separate board later on? My portal currently says “No decision has been made on your application.”

Thank you for any and all help!

The nursing option has its own board. As far as I know there is only 1, possibly 2. The board dates are unpublished. You may not hear until late March or early April.

Does anyone also have insight on how many scholarships will be given? Hoping it will be more due to the nursing shortage.

I don't mean to be discouraging, but the last time I checked the military didn't have a nursing shortage. I have an Army nurse recruiter coming over to speak with my students next week so I will ask him a few questions.

Navy Nurse Option Scholarships typically hover in the 15-35 Range. Capt Meyers previously posted that possibly 19 is the number this year. The Navy doesn't need to give that many 4 year Scholarships because so many enlisted corpsmen are "Ascending" into enlisted Nurse commissioning programs which are much more budgetary friendly.
