NROTC OCS questions

Regarding Marine OCS, I have a few questions that I have conflicting answers to. My understanding was that a complete physical was given during the processing once they arrived. However, the official OCS Field training manual online says "all must report with a complete physical examination". Does this have to be done someplace special or just with his regular physician? Is there a special form? I have a hard time getting information from him and he is the type of male who most likely wander around lost for a while before lowering himself to ask for directions. LOL. Also regarding immunizations. I have tried to find a list of mandatory ones because I don't think his are up-to-date. I saw somewhere that said don't worry about it any that are missing they will give you there. I don't see a reason to wait since our insurance will pay for them but I'm not sure which ones are required. To be safe, I could make him get them all. He would hate me forever lol.

Any tips would be much preceded. And I will probably have more questions later. His report date is July 5. Thank you very much

Sampia, my DS didn't have a physical prior to reporting. They definitely had some type of medical review during their in-processing week.

As I remember, his MOI pushed him to get a dental exam and blood work (not sure of that one) in the spring or early summer but this was so that they could start working on his commissioning packet as soon as he got back to school in the fall.

There is a form that they sign periodically which says that there have been no major changes in health.

Sorry I can't be more detailed. DS is knee deep in end of semester class projects right now.

Thank you for replying. I know that they do have to fill out a medical form periodically. I will just push him to get me more details. He does not grasp that it can take a while to get into see a doctor for a routine physical if one is needed and these last few months will pass much quicker than I will want them to.

I can't swear to this but I believe DS had a physical at Ft. Jackson prior to OCS, as it's nearby. Then again, NROTC the unit used to cart everybody over there each spring (whose physical was due) for a physical performed by Army physicians - so maybe it was just related to that. It quite possible that each unit handles it differently depending on what facilities are available to them locally.

I checked and DS had no physical prior to going to Quantico for OCS.

Thanks for checking. I have been rereading the posts you two made last year when your sons went. Useful information.
