My university had recently gone fully online. At the end of the semester we can choose to either take the grade in our classes or elect Pass/Fail. Does anyone know NROTCs policy on this?

A midshipman must maintain minimum grades standard, especially if on NROTC scholarship. I think it's best to check with head of your Naval Science Dept at school about it for guidance.

Agree with guidance above to check with your Navy mentor and your unit directly to ensure pass/fail will allow those interested to see you are meeting standards. Quick recommendation - Separate from Navy requirements (meaning even if allowed) I would caution against exercising the option for pass/fail if you are earning top grades. If you earned 'em, then get credit for 'em. Down the road (grad school applications to competitive programs in particular), it may matter. Take the grades and give yourself a cushion if some course next year throws you for a loop. Of course if you are struggling this semester and it's allowed... Good luck.

What I’ve heard so far: MIDN will NOT be allowed to pass/fail any naval science classes, or classes that are required for Navy scholarship (Calc I, or even classes like American War history, etc).

Aside from that, any class outside of this, including classes that go towards your major, can be pass/fail as long as it is accordance with the unique policies of your university regarding the spring 2020 semester only

DS was informed by his unit staff that they are required to get a letter grade in all their classes. I'm not sure if this will be NROTC wide or left to the discretion of the individual units. Best bet is to inquire with your unit staff to get it directly from them and to keep working hard like you will be getting a letter grade.

My son's unit told them they need to take the letter grade in all classes.
