Hi, I was awarded the NROTC scholarship around a month ago and am pretty set on attending Penn State. I wanted to know if anyone was or currently is in their NROTC unit that could shed light on the workload, atmosphere, academics, schedule, activities, cadre, pros and cons, etc. Thanks in advance!

Good Morning, My son was already been excepted to PSU, Early Action prior to Thanksgiving, Nursing School Direct Admit, and he is waiting on his NROTC decision. Good Luck. Hopefully, they will onboard together. His workload will be totally different than yours as a Nursing School student. He is only required to take 3 NROTC Classes, vice you will need 6, in addition to Calculus and Physics and your degree requirements. NROTC classes are taken as electives. There are plenty of other online resources and you can reach out to the PSU detachment on Instagram. They will answer questions there for you. They did for us. We also met some of them at a football tailgate in 2019.

Can't speak for the NROTC unit, but I can tell you that Army, Navy, and AF are all located in the Wagner building. At tihs time, they don't really do much together, by my DD said that they are trying to arrange more activities/competitions between the branches. They did a sports competition last fall she said they all enjoyed.
