Well, it's been about 3 weeks and we haven't received official word yet! I am trying not to worry, perhaps the holiday season slowed things down a little. The waiting game is a challenge!
[QUOTE="Can you keep plan B option until I-day?? Is it selfish cuz you are holding scholarship from another deserving student???

Think this might answer some questions. It seems that you can not have gone to the board yet (which was this week ) to be able to be offered the ISR, Since Jan 31st is deadline for NROTC boards I would think any ISR slots are going to be pitched very soon. DS was sent in for NROTC in Dec because his 'handler' was going on vacation and wanted to make sure all the kids in his area were squared away.CoC is the Commander of Cadets...the big cheese in charge at the detachment. They are usually an O5 or O6.
HSSP is the HS Scholarship Program (HSSP)...national board...the board he will be required to remove his name if he accepts.
I am confused now because what I know of the ISR is, it is tied directly to that specific college.
~ I.E. UVA offers him the ISR. It can only be used at UVA, accepted to VT, VMI, TAMU and Timbucktoo doesn't matter. There is no number 2-5 option, it is UVA or nothing. There is no transferring the scholarship later on if not admitted.
~~ That is why many candidates offered this option have a hard time choosing whether they accept it or roll the dice with the national. If they accept it and do not get admitted, than they are SOL because they can transfer it. If they don't accept and does not get it from the national level, but does get admitted, than they are SOL again!
It really comes down to the old cliche of how you see what is worth more...a bird in the hand or 2 in the bush!
If my son is accepted to Union and receives the NROTC scholarship there, I will definitely love to get our sons in touch. So happy to hear he has had a positive experience! My son is a first year NROTC student at RPI. He absolutely loves the campus.
Got into, and visited PSU, Ohio St., Purdue, Miami University, and visited Texas A&M. Loved the size of RPI. Only a couple dozen midshipmen in each class.
When your son was told he had the ISR, were you asked to sign the 'official' ISR document which is the NAVCRUIT 1100/32 (Rev. 6-2013)?
Did your son have need for any waiver? For example if he were in the top 21% of the Class rather than top 20% of the Class it would require a wavier.
What does his NROTC Portal say? Sometimes the NROTC will pull an application to re-verify certain documents that make up the application, such as Transcripts, etc.
