Does anyone know what the NROTC Ship Selection ranking formula looks like? I'm looking for an answer like 30% GPA, 30% Aptitude, 30% PRT , 10% Major(something like that, just trying to give an example). How is major tier weighted? Any help would be appreciated so much.

If anyone knows how the Aviation and Service Assignment ranking differs(or does not differ), that would be great as well.

Thanks for any info

From The NROTC Guide book page 186. GPA is weighed the most, followed by major tier, followed by points assigned by the PNS at your unit, followed by PRT score. Tier 1 and Tier 2 enjoy competitive advantage over Tier 3 majors. For GPA only the first 3 years of grades are considered and calculated the Fall of your senior year - six semesters worth. So, start out of the gate fast and don't slow down. Only your most recent PRT is used, typically, the Spring semester PRT.

Potential brown shoes must also pass interviews, medical exams and get a good score the ASTB for PFAR. You may take the exam up to 3 times. Personally, if I did not have my PPL upon entering college I would start my freshman year studying for it and take the first exam my junior year, but that is just me.

Aviation places heavy emphasis on the ASTB. Keep this in mind, as some people try to cram it, or don't fully realize the effect.
