NROTC scholarship notification

DS is still 'no decision' too. We have moved on, but wondered if NROTC would have offered a good option.
I guess what is most disappointing is the seemingly cavalier and un-businesslike manner Navy has treated these applicants still pending with 'no decision.' It may not mean much to some, but these are citizens who have responded to a Navy request for applications. The application is not a 'walk in the park' and at a minimum deserves a timely decision. Applicants deserve an answer up or down in time to make their college decisions with this information. I have trouble understanding why these cases are left hanging at the end of April with no communication. The other services seem to get it done.

NROTC has always responded to my questions within one business day if you use this link. Give it a try.

It's been said there is one final board for applicants with "No decision".

They have. There is no decision yet. As P-Flying say, check tomorrow or Wednesday.

Portal was updated! Four year scholarship to Duke University! I feel beyond blessed with this opportunity. Good luck to all the fellow candidates today who have been waiting for what seems like centuries. Also, thank you anyone who posted on this forum! Everyone was such a huge help!

Congratulations to the most recent scholarship winners. I know the wait was painful but seems like it was worth it in the end for some at least. Duke! UVA! My god. What great schools. And both in the ACC!

DS completed his NROTC application on the very last day of deadline. Almost forgot all about NROTC app, DS hasn't been checking portal for status change. Then received surprise today (4/30/2013) when DS notified via e-mail that he received NROTC to Harvard. Only drawback, DS already declined/rejected at Harvard. Absolutely no regrets in this household though........ last month DS accepted appointment to USNA Class of 2017!

How's this for irony: My DS received an appointment to USNA (incl. LOA) and was accepted to Harvard, but was not selected for an NROTC scholarship. He has decided to attend Harvard as a college programmer. Congrats and best of luck to your DS!

Pmh-We had a similar situation 3 years ago. DS turned down on May 1 appointment(with LOA) to USNA but he never applied nrotc. He decided to give it a try at UVA and walked on as a college programmer. With hard work, he picked up a 2 year scholarship and just got his First class summer cruise for EOD. He never regrets that decision although dear dad had to pay 2 years OOS at UVA which is similar to Ivy tuition. Best of luck
