NROTC Scholarships

DD portal was updated and she did not receive a scholarship :( Congrats to all whose wait is up at least!! She is DEP as plan B, going to MEPS this weekend and hoping for a good contract.

Neither did my DS.... But he's still going to A&M and in the Corp and NROTC....been accepted to all 3 so he's still happy... and determined to earn a sideload scholarship!

My DD's NROTC portal still shows "no decision has been made on your application". Maybe means she's still in the running for a scholarship?

I believe so. The notifications went out yesterday late for winners/losers for the 4-yr scholarships. My DS is currently a college programmer and his CO told him his packet had not been reviewed yet and was in the que for next week's board. His NROTC unit had one CP receive a scholarship yesterday and another CP was turned down, also yesterday. Hang in there and good luck!

Remember - she can always join the NROTC unit at VT (and join the Corps) -- or any other college with ROTC -- and 1) reapply for the 4 year and/or 2) work hard to earn a 3 year ("College" or "side scholarship"). There are many successful candidates that do this who go on to have great careers. It's hard right now but tell her not to give up!

So have all the 4 year scholarships been offered? If there is no change in status at this point, are candidates in the running for a 3 year scholarship or are they just waiting for others to decline their scholarships?

Based on earlier "intel" on this forum, there are three boards yet for the 4-yr.
March 19-23
April 9-13
April 23-27

3-yr for college programmers will be applied for this spring if they did not receive a 4-yr.

Note - NROTC does not give 3 yer scholarships to high school applicants. Only Army does that.
 
Hey all - someone started an NROTC Class of 2022 thread here - https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/navy-rotc-class-of-2022.60366/ if you want to add in. One advantage - your DD/DS might spot some future shipmates at their respective schools and make some friends in advance. Also, existing members of the unit (or parents) will have the opportunity to reach out to you as well. Last year we sort of found other parents and cadets haphazardly and by luck so this would have been helpful. (I hope I pasted that link correctly but if I didn't you can find it in the message thread list). And kudos to @Ex.BT.USN for starting it on behalf of 2022 parents.
 
Where did you see the Tier of the scholarship, for the required major? I don't see it in the email or on the portal.
 
@ProudDad17 Thanks, but I am looking for what Tier the awarded scholarship is for. I see on these boards that people were awarded Tier 1, 2, etc, but I don't see on the award which Tier the scholarship is for. Do I just assume that it is for the major that was listed?
