I sent my change of school request to NSTC on the 15th of April. No word yet and the schools need decisions by the 1st! I have a 4 year Marine Option scholarship, but was not accepted to the school it is assigned to (North Carolina SU). I have been accepted to Virginia Tech and Penn State though.
What can I do now?

I would email and/or call right away (as in today) and ask about the status of your transfer request. I believe that I saw somewhere that email is a better choice because the NSTC is just so busy right now.

My son's request for a transfer was denied (although his circumstances were different than yours), but he was placed on a waiting list for the unit he wanted to transfer to. Unfortunately, we can't afford the school without the scholarship (and there are no guarantees that a spot will open up), so son will be taking a different route.

I hope that it all works out for you. The best of luck to you!

Thank You. I have not found a phone # for NSTC yet, just the fax #.
I am in the same boat as far as not being able to attend without the benefit of the scholarship. Resent request email last night. I marked it urgent and asked for a read receipt(which I don't think works on their server).
Things are not looking good. I will try to find a phone # to follow up.

Contact numbers from the scholarship paperwork:

NRTOC Information Office:

1-800-NAV-ROTC
Selection branch: ext 29381 or 29393
Placement branch: ext 29433 or 29419

Best of luck to you!

I contacted them by phone at the placement extension. My son faxed a request to change schools before he received the original paperwork. I called to confirm the next day that the fax was received, and the lieutenant who answered the (placement) phone said that she had already processed it.

My son then completed the original acceptance paperwork and faxed it in. He followed with the captain at the school he transferred to, but it took probably 3-4 days for the captain's paperwork to show that the transfer had been completed and then another 2-3 days to show that he'd accepted the scholarship.

His paperwork took nearly a month to arrive, even though the website said it should be delivered within two weeks. The NROTC captain asked for our patience, saying that there were several thousand scholarships awarded and a small staff to handle the paperwork.

My personal opinion is that the phone and fax route is the fastest way. Good luck!
