NROTC Selection Status

My DS application was completed and sent in October. His selection status still shows as "No decision has been made on your application". Is this unusual to be in this status for so long? Does it mean he hasn't even been reviewed yet? If he was denied he should be receiving some change in his selection status, correct?
 
It’s not unusual. He is in a pile of “maybe’s” at this point. Search out years prior ‘NROTC appointment’ threads and rejection threads for a better idea of timing of awards if you are into that kind of information.

My DS' portal has said the same thing since the same time as well. My first son received his notification in February and he had completed his application in early fall.
 
I posted yesterday that my daughter had not received any information yet either and her status is “no decision” right now as well. My point yesterday was that her NROTC recruiter told her there was only one board left. This morning I questioned her about this because everything on the forum stated that her recruiter coordinator gave her the wrong information and that there are several boards left, but only one Marine option board left. She now tells me when she contacted her coordinator yesterday and said “hello”, the coordinator replied by addressing her by an incorrect first name. So there you go. I am sure she thought she was dealing with someone else because she hasn’t heard from her since October. I truly believe there are many more boards left.

yes there are many other boards left. My coordinator was telling me they go all the way till April. And to answer OP, do not stress that the app says "no decision". They can let you know all the way up to the end of April. A lot of people on this forum in previous years applied pretty early and got their notification in April.
 
The status stays as "no decision has been made" until a decision of yes or no is made. If it has been that way since October, the application certainly has been reviewed and it is still being considered. Boards are generally once per month early on, but tend to be held more frequently in March and April. Rejections should start coming out in the net month or so. My DS had a friend who received a rejection in mid February. (Same friend earned a 3 year scholarship after doing well his forst year).
 
That might remain the status until mid-April when you receive a reply at the latest. DS was in that state when he got a negative reply. Lots of time to still execute the backup plan prior to May 1 deadlines because we already had it in place. Keep working backup plans. All you can do is wait now.
