NROTC version of "Anyone still waiting out there?"

Still waiting...nervously. I can't believe we don't have answers yet...It feels like April has just dissapeared. But I'm still as anxious and excited as ever. I'm just grateful we are all still in the game. :) That's got to mean something.

Good luck to everyone and fingers crossed for all of you.

I belive tomorrow or Friday will be our lucky?unlucky day....whatever our wait will end:). Ok I maybe dreaming but its my dream so let me dream:)! Good luck to you all and again no matter the results , I m happy to have an opportunity to have the opportunuty. I do have a plan B...not as good as the plan A but not too bad:). Hope we wont have to fall back on it!

Oh good, someone to wait with! I have a plan B as well that I'm pretty satisfied with...so we are both lucky in that sense (some people have nothing but A!). And I keep checking every 23 seconds...so I'm counting on your dream to come true (the sooner the better). I don't think I can wait any longer! :)

Im happy to have you to wait with and the rest as well. Our plan B was our Plan A, so, Im very happy to have it....but plan B would be better now:). Im still dreaming and i willl be for the next 2 days....it has been very rough but I cannot ever imagine regretting it.....My DS he is waiting to but seem to be more calm than his dad.....I know hes not and I know how he deals with things.....My wish for is for him more than me..He wants the Buckeyes and this is his best chance for that to happen....

Well best wishes to your son! I'm sure he will go very far. My dad is the same way...I think he is almost more anxious than I am (if that's even possible). But like father, like daughter, I suppose. :)

Thanks

I remember checking my status page constantly after submiting my packet in October and thinking that I would find out by January at the VERY latest. I could have never imagined that prom would roll by and I still wouldn't have an answer! Even though I'm anxious waiting I am honored that I've made it this far along in the process. The other three people from my school who applied (all good friends of mine) recieved denial letters last month. Fortunately I already committed to my first choice school with a workable backup plan for the first year so the pressure isn't too great. I can't imagine the stress of those whose college decision hangs in the balance. Best of luck to everyone else still waiting :)

@Ups/Downs Thank you! I'm sure I will be :)

@ab187 That's the exact same thing I did. Committed to first choice...submitted by October...etc. Good luck!

I think there was only one other that submitted from my son school....and at the the same time. The othere, his friend and ROTC classmate was denied three weeks past....DS will be Navy or Army

Also still waiting

My DD and I are still waiting. I have lurked on this site for a few months now, and finally registered to be able to post.

First - thanks to everyone who offers such great advice.

Secondly - I wish we had discovered this site earlier in our process!

Third - still waiting for NROTC decision. Application has been complete since early Dec 2011. But it is for LREC, which falls under Tier 3. So only a 15% chance to start with BUT we have not yet been told NO.

DD 1st choice college, though, requires a $ 600 Nonrefundable deposit by May 1. That's just not workable without knowing the scholarship will be waiting!
We do have back up plans.

Still waiting!

I applied for LREC as well with no word yet. Very few of us LREC applicants on here, so welcome! :) Best luck and keep posted!

I wanted to give everyone the "heads-up" regarding the NROTC Scholarship offers......My son found out very late this afternoon via the NROTC status page that he was awarded a 4 year scholarship to his first choice. I'm not sure what he's going to do....I really believe deep down that he is going to stick with the AROTC Scholarship (which is to an in-state school), but I may have to put a deposit at his NROTC school (which is to an out of state school) before May 1st just to buy him a little extra time to make an educated decision. Anyway, good luck to everyone else.....the offers should start to come in.

Thanks for the heads up Northerner - just now saw your post and checked DS status - sure enough, it was updated. He was turned down for the NROTC scholarship...well at least that long mystery story is over. What a journey that was.

Congratulations to your son!!! And may God bless and protect all these fine young men and women in their future days of leading and serving in the military!

Finally!

Thanks for the heads up about Status Updates. I checked the online page and DD was awarded a 4 yr scholarship to U of Illinois. ( Not that I hadn't been checking 3-4 times a day already! )

Is anyone familiar with the program at Urbana-Champaign?

Also, any additional info about LREC?

Best wishes to everyone who is still waiting.

Checked my status. No scholarship. At least the wait is over!

To any future NROTC applicants who may stumble upon this thread, the wait is worth it, even if the result is not in your favor. I really learned a lot about where I want to go in life (and of course, that will be somewhere in the Navy!) Congrats to everyone who got their scholarships, and a special thanks to the ones that gave me some much needed insight. :)

Just checked and I received a four-year scholarship to the University of Texas!! The misfortune and irony (for all you Texans) is that I've already committed and have my heart set on Texas A&M (listed as my first choice). Does anyone know if there is a possibility of me getting it transferred? I've already sent notified the A&M Corps recruiting office to see if there is any way I can.

Notification

I'm thinking that I did not receive an NROTC Marine Optin scholarship. My status page just says, "Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection." I heard that May 15 was the deadline for all application decisions. I tried to contact the officer that help me complete the needed material but my e-mails are sent back as if his e-mail no longer exists. Is there any hope left? Does anyone have any idea what happened?

Thanks.

I suspect your correct. IN fact it's not clear from the status if it ever went before the board which I think would only happen if it were incomplete. But they do such a poor job of updating the status that you never know.

I would suggest getting in touch with your district recruiting office to see what they can tell you, if anything. If they can't give you any more info I'm sure they can put you in touch with whoever can.
