The candidate's application that I referred to was completed and submitted in early September. Must be taking extended time to process due to number of applications they have received this year.
Thank you all for your replies. I am now able to convey this message to the applicant! :thumb:

"Application has been submitted online Your electronic application has been received and is being processed ...
Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination. Selection decisions will begin in late August and continue until the end of April. Once a selection decision has been made, your new status will be reflected.
"

This is the only information on the page once SSN and DOB are entered.
This is the same message as we have.

My status says:

"Missing Items
All required items have been processed.

Selection Status
No decision has been made on your application."

And after that it has my contact information and who I contact if I need to change anything

It then shows my SAT/ACT scores and college choices.

It has been like this for over a month now

Get used to it. Last year we looked at that page from August until February. Have you been accepted yet to any of your college choices? Call you top choice units to see if the unit allotment has been meet yet. Speak with the ROTC freshman advisor at your top choices. If you have been accepted at the college, let them know that and that you are just waiting to hear about your scholarship and is there anything else that you can do to improve your chances. If your top choice units are filled you may look into rearranging you ranking of colleges for the scholarship. Getting accepted to a college whose unit is filled may have you going to the waiting list game which just prolongs the game. The best advise is make the calls to the units. This lets them know that you are interested in them and it may end up in a few tips to improve your odds. It helped in my son's process. Good luck, it is definitely worth the wait. Go NAVY!

Our son just got a letter of acceptance to the college he listed as #2. Believe me, that was a huge sigh of relief just to know that somebody wants him. Unfortuantely, affording his #2 without a scholarship seems like an impossibility at the moment.

His #1 choice (Va Tech) has binding early decision and so he has not put in his application yet (because he is also applying to USNA). I hope he does not regret that since USNA seems like a long shot to us.

I was wondering if it would be appropriate to call NROTC at Tech and see if there was anything they could find out since our son has not technically even applied there yet. I know they fill up VERY quickly. We did have a very encouraging meeting with one of the NROTC instructors a month back when my son attended a spend-the-night. The instructor gave us his business card, so maybe that would be a good start as the instructor met my son and should remember him.

I don't want to be a nagging mother, but it's impossible for my son to make phone calls during the school day and has practice immediately after school. By the time he gets home at nearly 6 p.m., it's just too late.

CronusMom
Have your son email your contact and ask to arrange a phone call during son's available times. My son's 1st choice school AROTC scholarship officer had no problem getting that arranged. They are used to kids being busy during the day.

have son offer that if they cannot make arrangements that fit the schedule then he would like Mom to call during the day.

they will figure out a good time to talk.
Good Luck!

My son is going for MC option. The last item left was photo and that disappeared two wks ago. This is what it says now.
Application has been submitted online
Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection.
Items waiting to be processed:

Wait listed

Does anyone know if you have to request to be wait listed to a unit(NROTC).
Lets say the unit is filled your app looks good but theres no more spots.
Does your file automatically get placed on a wait list in some kind of order?

My daughter's status just changed to the above today. I "think" it means she has been deferred to the next board. I think you only see this page after you've been boarded but I could be (probably am) wrong.

aglages,

I think you are right in saying that it only changes to that once you are deferred to the next board. I know of someone who just found out they got the scholarship today, so I'm guessing that the results have been released and your daughter has unfortunately been moved to the next board. The message popped up for me after the release of the first board's results and still says it. :frown:

Good luck to you ROTC Hopeful! At least there are still some more boards to be reviewed. I'll post if my daughter's status ever changes.:thumb:

Similar situation here...applying for MC Option...has stated: "Items waiting to be processed - Officer Interview". RO assures that it was submitted weeks ago, but frustrating that it never changes. Assuming the review board at the Marine Districts have met already this month?

School selection

My son's application was updated to show that everything was complete, they posted the SAT's, address, etc...they also posted his schools in a particular order. As I recall, my son indicated he had no preference in which school he got a scholarship in. I am concerned as the top school they list I have a feeling is very competitive, and I know he would just as readily go to ANY of the schools. Should he contact them? Anyone else have this problem? I don't want him to miss out on a scholarship simply because his school is already full.
Thank you anyone that can respond and good luck to all in this process.

I wouldn't contact them. As long as your son checked off that he would attend any school on his list, the competitiveness of the first one should not matter. If he isn't approved at that school he has a reasonable chance at the others. Of course that is just another parent's opinion.
