NSI Cancelled?

DD is hearing 2nd hand that NSI has been cancelled for 2020. No comms from her unit yet. Anyone else getting this message?
 
That was the word DS received from his unit over the weekend, all NSI cancelled, Sea Trials at Newport cancelled and foreign exchange cruises cancelled at this point.

Most units do a New Student Orientation (NSO) before classes start. Prior to the introduction of NSI a couple years ago, that was all there was. That is likely what they are referring to.
 
Indoc at the college can vary. DS's was very very tough. Do not assume it will be easier because it's not a Great Lakes. Be prepared.

Did they indicate they'd try to do training with just the school's unit prior to the fall semester? So curious if they can even try to plan for that - so many rumors that maybe fall semesters will still be virtual learning or maybe very late start dates.

It says to expect a 3-4 indoctrination period at the beginning of the semester at the school. And that they will be in touch with more information.
 
Wonder how shortly....we havent received anything at all.
 
Has anyone received formal information about NSI being cancelled yet? We are just sending in paperwork now, so we have not yet been placed into a session.

There have been quite a few people contacted directly from their units letting them know it is cancelled. Based on the NSTC website, they have not made a final decision. I would go ahead and submit your paperwork until you hear otherwise.
 
DS went to NSI cycle one last summer. We noticed that they scuttlebutt from one unit to another was disjointed and had conflicting info. I have seen a few videos posted from NSTC and the SA in the last few days asking families not to repeat word of mouth rumors and wait for the chain of command to pass the word down from the top.

Some units have said they will have extended NSO on campus like they did before the class of 2023. Some have said they will push off NSI until next summer (but that would conflict with Cortrimid that also includes Navy Midn as well)

As my DS just reminded me everyone needs to be “Standing by to be standing”by until word comes down from NSTC.
