NSI Graduation Questions

I think the number is around 500 (1500 for all three cycles).

The cadre are pretty mission focused. If there is a personal connection (like attending the same school), the cadre may initiate some small talk towards the end of the cycle.

Any DS or DD’s attending
Catholic University/ Capital Battallion?

Thank you for that information!
So your DD completed NSI and is now Navy or Marines?
What is your DD’s name? Can I have my boy say “ALOHA” or is that not proper?
My DD is a 2C, and being an instructor at NSI is her summer cruise amongst a few other NROTC obligations she has this summer. The forum is intentionally anonymous to protect our kid's identities. I don't believe there is a lot of small talk between instructors and attendees at NSI;) The instructors are there to prepare the kids for their first year at their unit by instilling some discipline and putting the kids under some stress.

As entertaining as that would be to see, NSI is a serious training environment - not dissimilar to boot camp.

Copy that.🫡

My DD wants to be an instructor at NSI next summer. We will see if she actually gets to do her summer cruise this year or if she has to do it next summer. No word whatsoever on a date for this summer!

I still know a few people there. 😀

And this will be drilled i to the folks there as soon as they arrive on campus. They are first and foremost the Capital Battalion. Then their parent university. We do that to torment the Georgetown people. 😁

Alittle story about last year. A Mid Candidate was walking by a MOI (Marine Officer Instructor like a enlisted Drill Sargent) at NSI last year. The MOI had his hand up. The Mid Candidate was trying to be funny and gave the MOI a high five. The other candidates described the MOI's response as a nuclear bomb going off in the building. This Mid Candidate was treated to some IT (instructional training in the form of physical exercises) for quite a long time. The screaming MOI could be heard from the other side of a pretty large building, and I have no doubt the soon to be Mid, and all that witnessed it, learned a very valuable lesson.

The path to success at NSI is Grey Man. Blend in and try not to be seen.

My DD said she was humbled during NSI last year. She was getting blisters from her boots and kept asking to go get a new size. During foot inspection she asked finally if she could just wear running shoes because she kept asking for new boots and was not given them. Others were allowed to wear running shoes. She was told no and must have given some attitude as she turned around. Next thing she knows is two drill sergeants were an inch from her face SCREAMING at her. Learned her lesson real quick that any inkling of attitude will not be tolerated.

Photos are being posted on Facebook page "naval reserve officer training corps- nrotc"
Thank you so much for sharing this! I spotted my DS in the photos, what a gift. I went through basic training myself many moons ago, so I had a general idea of what to expect, but that doesn’t make missing him any easier. I’m now stalking the page like a hawk! 😂 Seeing those instructors lined up waiting for the buses brought back serious flashbacks. That moment of stepping off the bus… whew. 😬😥

If anyone knows, how many kids quit during NSI on average and does that mean their scholarship never activate?

I spotted my DD in a phots there, too! Like just her little face poking through the crowd, but that's all I needed to see. I've been stalking the page too 😁

Extremely few quit during NSI. More quit after the realities of college and commitments close in on them and DODMERB rears its ugly head. Some of these eventually go on to OCS.

Can you justify a scholarship for someone who quits a 2 1/2 week NSI for non-medical reasons? There's your answer.
