My son is slated for NSI 2 this summer and is trying to also attend freshman orientation at his university. He is also a military dependent and lives overseas. Because of this, we are trying to have him tag on some extra time in the US to go to orientation and also visit his grandparents. Has anyone dealt with this before or had any issues having the NROTC units manage the travel dates to allow for some "flex in arrival and/or return dates from NSI to allow for this bonus time?
Additionally, does anyone know exactly what they must bring, must not bring, and can bring to orientation. Do they bring any basic toiletries at all? Is everything down to their underwear really issued? What about such mundane things as laundry deteregent, deodarant, etc...
