Good afternoon everyone, I’m undergoing OIT for peanuts, cashews, and almonds and was wondering how the process is, going through DoDMERB with trying to be granted a nut waiver. I’ve seen a few posts from people that have been granted waivers for nut allergies and it’s given me some relief but with my situation i think it’ll be more complicated.
Last year I was discharged from MCRD Parris Island after a near-fatal anaphylactic reaction to peanuts during training and I did some blood and skin tests with an allergist down in Beaufort, SC when I was put into a holding platoon and found I was allergic to peanuts. It was also the first time I saw an allergist, who helped me figure out what path to do when I came back home. Also, I do have an RE-3P on my DD-214 which means it’s waiverable but I’m here because I have no experience with the waiver process.
My main goal is to re-enlist back into the Marine Corps but I’ve also become interested in joining the USNA and was wondering how the waiver process goes regarding the USNA, but if anyone here has attempted it through MEPS to go enlisted then I’ll gladly hear it as well. Thanks for your time
