NY NOMINATION THREAD 2016

Don't know for sure, but I have never heard that. I'd be surprised if they were "reserved", but would expect there to naturally be fewer qualified applicants in less densely populated areas of the state.

My DS received a senatorial nomination from Gillibrand. We know of another candidate who received a senatorial nomination from Schumer. Both candidates are in Western New York and have been offered and accepted appointments to USMA. I do not feel that any slots have been reserved for downstate.

We are downstate and my DS received a nomination from Gillibrand. If you look at her website she has the nominations listed in seperate press releases by region ( you have to go back a few pages to the January press releases).

There have been some congressmen/women in NYC that have a year in which there are no candidates to nominate. All the boros of NYC are densely populated.

What you allude to is an additional variable, which is number of applicants. Also a fair point, but doesn't really speak to how the senators dole out their noms.

It is known that Charles Rangel did not give many nominations. There are thousands of kids who live in upper Manhattan and a year could go by and not one student was qualified/nominated? Thank God he finally retired.

I am going to NAPS and need to apply for a nomination before going. Senator G's office does not open the portal until August and I-Day is in July. I called the office and no one knew what I was talking about and had no one in the office I could talk to about this. Guess I will have to take a trip to her office.

You probably have planned this already: communicate your situation with NAPS poc.
