October 15, 2012 AROTC Board

So does that mean if my son's status has not changed, he has been passed on to the next board?

Not necessarily. They are hand inputting this information, so in the past the status changes have been over a few days. The bulk of them should post today and Friday, a few weekend updates have occured, but not common.

Good luck to your son and family.

Adding to what Ohio2015Parent has said, the process seems to change a bit every year. They could very well be waiting until the official letters are sent before updating the status pages this year, then again they may start updating today. It is difficult to second guess how they will handle the process from year to year.

Whether or not the status pages change soon, the fact that the info is in CCIMS means the letters will be going out soon and at least some applicants will know something.

Best of luck to everyone

For the March, 2011 Board, the status changes appeared on the computer screen on Thursday *and* Friday, with maybe a few on the weekend and Monday.

Looks like no updates today, it's the close of business at Ft. Knox.

Here's to better luck tomorrow for those waiting.

The medical will show "Not Received" until you have completed your physical. The medical is not required to be completed prior to being boarded.

I wouldn't worry about the Interview notice, Cadet command is known to be slow updating the status page.

Any idea what the time frame is for completing the physical once you've been accepted? My son had ACL surgery and will not be released for 100% activity until April. It would be nice if we can delay the physical till then.

Thats a tough one, if your son receives a scholarship from the first board Dodmerb will send him the info regarding the physical. There will be a deadline listed, Im sure April will be too late. If your son does receive a scholarship this board have him contact the ROTC Battalion at the school he will be attending. Talk to the Recruiting Officer first and get his read on the situation.

I do know that there have been many cadets that accept the scholarship but do not get cleared through Dodmerb until just before school starts, some have waited to almost the end of the first semester due to waivers or remedials. Chance are he will not get medically qualified the first go around due to the ACL Surgery, he will most likely need a waiver which would be requested through ROTC. Whether or not the waiver is granted will be up to Dodmerb, make sure he has a plan B just in case.

My guess is that he will need to go to the physical within the deadline they list, then deal with the waiver process that comes after. Every case is different when it comes to Dodmerb. Make your first contact with the ROTC Battalion and then go from there.

You might also post this question on the Dodmerb thread on this forum, you may get better answers there.

Jcleppe,

Just a quick correction, DoDMERB DOES NOT decide if a waiver will be given, the source does, in this case it would be AROTC.

All DoDMERB does is Q or DQ.

I do agree I can't see them waiting until April, usually the request for the exam occurs very quickly after the scholarship is awarded.

I would assume they will be DQ'd or at the very least be given a remedial. Whatever they determine you just need to go through the process.

I got my 1st choice!

I just checked and I got a scholarship to my first choice, Wake Forest! Now all I need is to actually get admitted. I really appreciate the access to all the great information in this forum! Good luck everyone.

Congratulations. We sure can use some good news. Was it a 3 year or 4 year scholarship?

Status change to my son's application says he has been offered a scholarship. It does not indicate if it is a three or four year scholarship and it only lists his third choice school, which I find odd because his second choice school would be easier for him to get into.

The letter he receives will contain the details on whether it was 3 or 4 year. It might be his first and second choice schools are already full (ie. no available ROTC seats). In any case congratulations. This is great news. :thumb:

Congratulations to all succesful candidates - If any of the winners are willing to post their stats I think that would be very helpful to the rest of the applicants.

Thank You

Good Morning All, Status page updated with offer of scholarship to my sons first choice. (Appalachian State) No indication at this point on the duration of the offer. Will wait for the letter to get that detail, regardless, very proud of him!

Please please some stats along with those with status changes.

Thank you

DS's status changed. He was offered a scholarship to a school that was 3rd or 4th on his ROTC list (not exactly sure since he shuffled his order a few times). It's a good school, one he is almost sure to be accepted to, and since he will likely get a good merit package there, we may be able to use the ROTC for room and board and use the school's package for tuition.

My only concern is that this is the only school from his list that was not the "home" school for the ROTC battalion but since it's in DC, there's good public transporation (no cars allowed for underclassmen).

Very proud of him and congrats to everyone else who is seeing this good new this morning!

Hopeful,

Yrs past it happens 2x a day, one in the a.m. and one in the p.m. It is not as if they go 1 by 1 and hit submit. They do them in batches.

At least that was how it was when DS went through the system.
