October 15, 2012 AROTC Board

is today the only day they are announcing scholarships? I didnt get a status change, so do I have to wait till next board. If so, does anyone know when the next board is?

Why is that a shocker?

1st board is always the smallest, and with sequestration issues I am not surprised. The military with 500 BN more on the table that might be cut come Jan. 2nd aren't going to hand out scholarships like candy for Halloween. They may be facing more dets closing.

The thread lit up, and to me that is important because posters now know results are out, they can address their next step.

jwizzle,

Your question has been answered multiple times over the last few page, it will be a bulk today and drips for a few more days. Not trying to be rude.

My son has received several nominations for awards during the first 3 months of his senior year of high school. Would it be beneficial to contact CC with those additions. I guess my question is: Can changes be made to the application once it is submitted and gone before the first board? Also should we update the SAT score on the original application as well since that has gone up. Or are we just in a "wait and see" mode.

I believe only SAT/ACT scores can be updated after you have been boarded.

If you receive a scholarship offer from AROTC but are unhappy with the school choice, let me know. I have been able to get 4 scholarships transferred in the last 2 years. I will give you some tips on how to do that.

Plan B time those stats are outstanding compared to mine. I'll try to stay positive though.

My son got offered for his first choice. We are excited but at the same time know he will be DQ'd on the physical. Now we just go through the waiver process and see what happens.

I received my first choice: Vanderbilt

GPA: 3.93
Vice President Student Council
Soccer and Lacrosse
Editor and Founder of Weekly Political Publication
President of Advocates For Life
Leader of Mission and Ministry Team
Church Group
400+ Service Hours
NHS

Engineering Major

Everyone who applied for a scholarship deserves a congratulations. Whether for the money or not, you all have been open to the possibility of serving the United States of America for 4 years. Thank you for being patriotic and giving back to your country.

Stay positive. This is the board where fewer are selected - the 2 remaining will award typically a higher overall number of scholarships. Yes, AROTC scholarships are very competitive, but don't give up the goal/dream yet:thumb:

I believe you have posted about SMP/Reserves/Guard...don't swear in just yet, but keep in contact with your schools/ROOs and see how January and March go for you. The wait is rough, but no one should immediately "assume" anything.

Congrats to all the scholarship winners and their families

Congratulations! Would you happen to know if your sons status page was updated in the AM or PM? Just wondering if there was a PM upload and/or if it happened yet!

Congrats! VMI`s excellent! A friend from my youth group is at apart of the C/O 2016 there and he loves it there!

Congrats to everyone who`s been awarded a scholarship! :thumb:

To those who are still waiting, keep your chin up! Still a lot of hope left! Keep being on the lookout for one. :sofa:

Good luck, everyone!

Awarded scholarship today to 2nd/3rd choice (I can't remember my order exactly), University of Texas at Austin!

Good Morning All, Status page updated with offer of scholarship to my sons first choice. (Appalachian State) No indication at this point on the duration of the offer. Will wait for the letter to get that detail, regardless, very proud of him!

Congrats! You SHOULD be proud. Boone NC is a great place to attend school.

Curious

Anybody who has received a scholarship from the West Coast? All the schools mentioned thus far are from the East or Mid-West. Just curious.

Wow! The board lit up while I was out playing golf. A lot of posts to catch up on here. Congratulations to everyone who received a scholarship. Well deserved. To those who didn't, hang in there. As Pima pointed out the fewest scholarships are awarded by the first board and only to those who are definitely going to get a scholarship without seeing what the rest of the pool looks like. People will still be sending in applications for months.

Also, hats off to Pima. You had a busy day!!!
