It has been awfully quite on this forum for the past week… Maybe everyone is still drowsy from too much turkey.

Can anyone provide some insight into Hold status at this early stage of the game and the chances for it changing to a Principal appointment? Am also wondering if anyone has heard anything about how big the incoming Class of 2018 might be, and if applications are running more/less than past years. Just trying to figure the odds, I guess.

Our DS is on hold… He is academically and DODMERB qualified, has nominations from both of our U.S. senators and our local rep and is being recruited for a sport at KP. His test scores are okay, but he would like to pull his math up a little bit more. Combined his Math and Critical Reading are over the 2007-2006 average shown in the Class Profile. He is taking the ACT again in about a week. Grades and extracurricular activities would seem competitive.

We are from a small state that doesn’t always fill its number of appointments, but this year it seems more students were nominated to KP this year than in years past, from what we have seen in press releases from MOC offices.

Wish I had some insights for you. Unfortunately, all I can say is ditto on all counts for my DD. Except our state is generally a very competitive one and appears to be no different this year. Other than that, same story here: 3Q and on hold.

I dropped DS off today for his overnight (original was postponed due to shutdown).

Admission Officer indicated that # of apps is on pace with last year and maybe slightly higher.

LOAs have been mailed, they are reviewing on a rolling basis, and we can expect a conservative approach meaning that KP will take their time/do it right.

Team of 3 will initially score the candidates. 65% academic (ACT/SAT/GPA/School Profile, etc...) and 35% leadership (Jr ROTC. Scouts, Student Gov, Varsity Letter, Team Captain, etc...). Believe admissions officer also indicated 2 other pair of eyes check/validate before offer is made.

250 chairs +/-, a little more than class of 2017 if I remember the stats (think 2017 was 237 chairs).

I should have taken notes but then again, I ain't the one applying....
