Off to LDAC

Well I'll let you know what we hear. DS had a challenging travel day. First DH had to create a bit of a scene at the ticketing counter (he's 26 year career AD so he's been around the block). Agent insisted that only military with active duty CAC cards could get free baggage. DH argued with her and told her the website said otherwise. Took about 10 minutes to get a supervisor who told ticket agent she was wrong and DS's credentials were good. She even argued with the supervisor. Sheesh--what are they teaching these agents?? Such customer service-we will be writing a letter on that one.

The craziness continued. He had several interesting adventures on his way to Louisville, but he made it and is headed to Knox.

He just heard from a fellow cadet from his school the same rumor that 13th Reg will have a shorter LDAC. Guess we'll see what the official word is.

I just received an email invitation to 13th regiment's graduation on the original planned date. So unless it's an automatic email sent out, then I guess they are keeping Reg 13 to the full length. I haven't heard anything otherwise.

Anyone else heard anything official?

Just a lot of rumors from other boards, nothing official.

Right now just keeping fingers crossed he makes it through the whole thing with no injuries so he doesn't have to go through this mess again next year. Plus everything will be different.

Just got the same invite.

Any idea what next summer will be like? I was supposed to go this summer, but medical waiver came through three days too late (go figure).

Sorry to hear it worked out this way for you.

I can't comment with confidence on the length of the new LDAC (Now CLC), I have read the cadets completing CLC will stay as leadership and trainers for the cadets that attend the new training after their freshman year. I can't imagine they will keep all the cadets completing CLC but there hasn't been a lot of information regarding the new training. I assume it will be a big topic of discussion when school starts back up this fall.

Since you will not be accessing with your current class this year you will most likely be under the new Accession Program. Make sure you keep up on your academics because your senior year will be part of your evals now. You will probably be taking the new GRE type test as part of your accessions package. The evals at the battalion level will be different next year as well and will also count toward your accessions.

I can't say I envy you or any of the rising MS3's that will be the first to go through this new process. Research all you can and just be ready.

Jcleppe, I can't decide whether or not I'm envious of the Cadets who are lucky enough to have LDAC out of the way; however, reading about all the hoopla of this summer, I can't say I have much more to be envious of other than those Cadets being done with CST.

Thank you for your input. I guess we will all see what CC is throwing at us together. They're kind of like the Gamemaker in The Hunger Games at this point! I really could've done without the GRE type test they seem to have planned for us hahaha. May the odds be ever in our favor.

I liked this line;

simple acclimatization (which could take up to 12 days)

I don't think the trainees get that luxury.

A lot of good tips though, My son said they went over this prior to school ending for the summer.

Our DS and other rising IV's stayed after semester and trained in winter gear to prepare for the heat.

I'm sure they're enjoying the polar vortex. It couldn't have come at a better time.
