Hi,
Hopefully I am allowed to post this here to help a future applicant!

My daughter used these two books in preparing for her ROTC and Service Academy Admissions applications, and we are offering them up for FREE to anyone who could find them useful. We found them worth every penny we paid for them in that she earned 3 scholarships:

  1. The Insider's Guide to the Army & Air Force ROTC Scholarship for High School Students & their Parents (combined addition - for 2020-21 App Year Edition) - Robert Kirland
  2. Service Academy Admissions: An Insider's Guide to Getting Accepted - Ashley Schmitt

They include invaluable information (that an earlier high school student aspiring to become a military officer, should reference to make sure they are hitting all the requirements solidly). These helped her to prepare for interviews, which leadership activities to highlight in her application and essays, scores/criteria for the fitness tests and how SATs are weighted, and much more.

Although she ended up pursuing only ROTC (decided she wanted a more traditional college experience than SA), she did receive two 4-year scholarships for Navy and Army, and a Type 7 Air Force as a tier 3 major (language, international studies). She attributes a lot of her success in the application as to know what to focus on in essays. These are for the 20-21 application year but much of the materials that are included seem to be similar year to year.

These are FREE to whomever would like! I am happy to meet up (Philadelphia region), OR I can mail them but I ask that you pay for postage only via Venmo or Paypal. Both are paperback and lightweight and would fit in standard yellow enevelope so I don't anticipate it would be more than a few dollars. The books are in good condition - some highlighted text but not too much!

Nice way to pay it forward.
It’s the least we can do! Sure hope someone takes me up on the offer. Sooo many questions asked on this forum are covered in this book! The army/Air Force one literally gives you the scoring and weight of all the various components the board weighs to maximize “your chances.”

Wish this had been a "live thread" a year ago.

By the grace of God, my boy managed to pull a 3AD from this round...but the journey cost me decreased liver function, 3 months of paper route money, and my immortal soul.

Would have rather acquired the books.

Good on you, for offering to pass on the knowledge your kid gained, after her own success was locked in!

Good for you and your son!! I hope your soul and liver are recovering well now! :)
It seems that each prospective candidate (and their family) has their own unique journey.

Best of luck to your DS and congrats!
