We just found out from Admissions that we were deferred. I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and enjoy your families. I will be chatting with you all after the New Year for RA. -officer

Officer - Looking forward to the next Official EA Mail Stalkers Unite Thread! Son was deferred also to RA. Merry Christmas - Enjoy your posts!

Ya'll are the best, and thanks for everyone's support on this board. It isn't easy, but we can all learn something from this. I can't wait for RA MAIL STALKERS THREAD, and don't any of you dare even think your not going to participate, or I will track you down :shake: -officer

Deferral? If so....all is NOT lost. Keep pushing forward. Retake the SAT...do something that sets you apart from the crowd....volunteer work, or take a class at night if you have time.

My daughter was deferred last December.... but in March she got her appt letter for CGA prep :) Good things can come to those that wait :)

Hang tight all!!!

Merry Christmas!

I'd previously posted that applicants accepting a CGAS appointment would not be considered further for a direct appointment; however, this policy has changed, so accepting your CGAS appointment will have no impact on your reevaluation during RA.

In the past, students have been able to list a preferred school, but ultimately one is assigned based on a lot of different factors.

My daughter was not told which Prep school she was going to until May 08...

She didnt get to choose, or make a preference.

Start it up!

I like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and thanks for all of your advise. As soon as someone starts a RA mail stalkers thread I'm in!! Hopefully we will all get some good back up plan mail soon. I know after the holidays all the mail will be bills:thumbdown:

It's nice to know that others have taken our place in the "can't wait for the mailman club", right JCollins??? :thumb: (and yes, I know you'll have to wait for the appt with the other preps, but we KNOW Joyce is gonna get it!!!)

But, never fear, we'll still be here in the background, pulling for each and every one of you. It's the hardest thing to explain to folks who have not been through this process just how much this one decision will change your child's life. So....again, hang in there and know you are not alone!

You are SO right! Many of the people in my office laughed as I would run home for lunch every day to check the mail. The funny thing is that once I explained how competitive it is and what an amazing opportunity it is, it became just as important to them. They started asking daily if the letter had arrived. People who have never even met our daughter started cheering her on.

We are new to the forum, but not new to waiting. You have no idea how great it was to find the support provided here. We WILL be part of the RA mail stalkers thread! Thanks to all of you, even if you didn't know you were helping!

Thanks everyone for your answers/advice/support during this wait, especially you old-timers(with affection), Shellz and J.Collins!

Wishing everyone waiting (and those who have heard) a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday and Happy New Year!

We'll all catch up with the waiting thread next year!!! Hope 2010 is a good one!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Best wishes for an appointment filled New Year to everyone on this board!

I am so happy to be waiting along side you all...before me there were countless others who encouraged my son's group along....payin' it forward!

I know this is the USCGA forum, but as a dedicated mailbox ambush parent I thought I'd relate my recent thoughts......I've ambushed the mailbox diligently for weeks now, maybe months, just more junk mail. Doesn't that stuff ever quit?

Today, 12-26, I'm banging away on the keyboards to a thump at the front door. Looking out the window I see the letter carrier walking away.......checked what she left and thanked her as she got back in the truck.....a rather thick manila envelope from the Director of Admissions USNA...priority mail...with something hard cover in it........you don't think they'd send a rejection priority mail, do you?

I guess it wouldn't fit in the mailbox after all...................:thumb:

The bummer is that my DS just left for a few days skiing with friends...now I have to sit and wait, no more mailbox ambushes.......:yllol: somebody help me before I go nuts! I did what I thought was best at the time, it's sitting patiently under the tree for his return......

Congratulations! ...both for the relief of no longer having to ambush the mail carrier and for what sounds like a very exciting acceptance package.

I personally think I would go crazy seeing it sit there, cold and lonely under the tree. :bang: You are a very good Dad!

Glad you joined the conversation and shared. :thumb:
