Official Interview?

I just logged into my West Point portal and when i was scrolling through, I noticed a new requirement that read: Official Interview NOT on file. This was not on my portal earlier so it must have appeared today. Does this mean I will be interview by a liason in my region? Is this a good or bad sign? What should I expect and how should I prepare?

Also, when I go click on the link to see the USMA Liaisons in the region its says "A state coordinator was not found" and "A congressional district coordinator was not found" Should I contact the office of admission to ask who I should be referred to?

A Field Force Representative (FFR) should reach out to you to schedule an interview. The interview is a new mandatory admissions requirement this year for West Point. If you do not here from someone you can reach out to your regional commander. See this link.
My understanding is that if an interview is on file from SLE, that the field force interview is NOT a requirement as long as the "Official Interview On File" has a green check in the portal.

That's an interesting caveat... to have had an interview at SLE and still have a green check in the new portal changeover. Lots of posters on here (my DS included) had interviews at SLE but were asked to have a FFR, because a new requirement this year was that a FFR interview was required. That will be interesting to see how that plays out.

My son is 3Q with a nomination and has NOT been contacted by our State/Congressional District Coordinator (same person) for an interview. Where does one find that "new requirement" listed anywhere? Perhaps the interviewers had concerns with those that were re-interviewed? DS has emailed and called his liaison and not ever gotten a reply.

I don't think it has been officially communicated anywhere. My DS was asked by RC to redo his (SLE) interview with FFR, but FFR initially didn't pursue request. Apparently not all FFRs were informed about the change earlier in the fall (some posters on here are FFRs), and if they saw on the portal (not visible to us back then) that an interview was conducted at SLE, they didn't think it was necessary. His FFR was gracious though and still made time to meet with him even though he said he didn't think it was necessary. Turns out it was.

Another speculation was that a FFR interview was required before an LOA could be offered, but I don't know if that has been verified. My son received an LOE before his FFR interview so I know it wasn't a firm requirement for that at that time. So maybe they were (re-)interviewing those first who were certain to get LOAs and then they widened the net? Not sure.

A friend of mine in another state told me this week that her son contacted his FFR about an interview, and he said he would do it only after a nomination was received. I guess that makes sense at this point. Time constraints would not enable them to interview everyone so maybe there were certain criteria required first (this young man was at least 2Q with nom when he had his interview... was waiting on medical)?

All of this is purely speculation based on what I've read on here. Take it with a grain of salt! I sometimes wonder if Admissions gets on here from time to time and laughs in staff meetings about the conclusions drawn!

A new item, Interview, has been added to your portal. You will be contacted by your Admissions Officer or Field Force if you require an interview. Your focus should be on completion of the rest of your application. Do not contact your Admissions Officer or Field Force about this new item; you will be contacted if an interview is necessary.

^This was just posted on my portal

May seem remedial but was is the difference between RC and FFR? We have the name of the State/Congressional District Coordinator who apparently is also the Regional Commander and the FFR's name/contact info (who hasn't responded to my DS). And if the RC, who is sending LOEs and 2Q/3Q letters hasn't mentioned the additional interview, should we be concerned if all boxes have green checks?

Green check on the portal for FFR interview?

Hi - Got the same thing:

However Official interview on file already has a green check because of doing the interview at the SLE.

Do you think it was just added to everyone's portal?

I think it was added for everyone. If someone didn't attend SLE, then they will probably be contacted for an interview.

still not showing in DS portal as of 20 minutes ago...but now the portal is down for maintenance

My son just showed me this in his portal. I would say it was added for everyone and they'll only follow up if you haven't received an interview. His is currently green checked, so likely doesn't apply.

RC=Regional Commander is the active duty officer listed on the West Point Admissions Team page whose full-time Army assignment is overseeing the applications for his/her region. They are physically located at WP. A Field Force Representative is a local person who volunteers their time to assist candidates from their Congressional district and interviews them. That person's contact info is found on the candidate's portal. The State Coordinator, listed above the FFR, is a different person from FFR, but we have never had any contact from/to that person. That person is not the Regional Commander.

My son said his RC and FFR said if he did an interview at SLE then one was not required. I know another candidate that did not attend SLE but was accepted and he did have to interview.

thanks. that is helpful. Our RC and State/Congressional District coordinator are one in the same...I guess it is different all over the US.
