Official Naval Academy LOA Thread Class of 2016

Got my LOA in the mail last Thursday.

I might just be silly, but there's no date on mine.

SAT was a 1330. 660 CR, 670 M. I scored much higher than that on this year's October 1 test, but the score report never made it to USNA. Should I send them again, or does it not matter?

Won't make any difference relative to an offer of appointment. However, odd as this might seem, you should submit those scores IF you decide to accept an appointment if/when offered. It will impact the numbers that future Mids will be noting, just like you have. If they were lower, they'd not be included in the mean.

My son just received an LOA and a nomination!

Congratulations! If he's DoDMERB qualified, then I assume he's a done deal. What kind of nomination? Congrats - ProudPatriot indeed!:thumb:

Nomination is from Congressional Rep Debbie Wasserman Shultz.

He had been DODMERB qualified but he will need a medical waiver for a recent encephalitis infection. We are hopeful that he gets that from USNA.

LOA

I just want to say DON'T GIVE UP. My daughter received her LOA today. She was so surprised. Her SAT is not as high as others. Although her math just ranked on the last test at 650, she was offered her LOA with a math of 560, Verbal 600. She is ranked 1/150 and has 4.5 GPA as well as a tremendous leadership credential. But she really didn't think she would be offered due to her SAT scores. So I guess my advice is DON'T GIVE UP. You don't need the highest of high SAT's if you have the right mix they are looking for.

My son's application was done Aug 8, BGO interview, Aug 11.

LOA was dated 11/15. Nomination received 11/16. Appt papers today!!! (11/26).

BGO interview was the last thing, submitted on September 12. "Subagency: NALOA" appeared on DoDMERB on October 17. LOA arrived in the mail on October 27.

District 40, California. Not sure if it's a very competitive district, but we are rather close to NWS Seal Beach.

Hi all, I was selected for an LOA a couple weeks ago. I was also selected for a nomination and I'm just waiting for a medical waiver as of now (remedial for USNA, USMA denied me flat out). I know that another student in my congressional district also has an LOA for USNA and also got a nomination from the same member of congress. What happens now? I read somewhere that each member of congress can have up to five cadets at an academy at one time, but candidates with LOAs are all able to go, occupying only one slot for the member of congress. What happens?

Thanks

Sorry about my terrible post title, but I am an official candidate, with an odd set of qualifications. I was wondering if anyone would evaluate my stats and tell me my chances.

CFA- I forget the exact scores, It was a pass and above average, but not superb.
VArsity Swimmer, Captain for two years (freshman and sophomore, oddly enough)
NAtional HOnor Society

I am very worried about my gpa, and supposed class rank, but my other qualifications are seemingly good, including the classes i have taken (total 7 aps, so far only one 4, all others 5.) and lots of honors courses.

1 avaliable slot for my nominating source.

how do I add up- still waiting to hear from admissions.

From maryland- my chances are up in the air, perhaps i'm more hopeful
