Hmmm...I thought he said he wasn't a recruited athlete? Oh well, I will still be keeping my fingers crossed that the Academy will make notifications earlier than originally advertised? I know our DS (and his dad) are driving the mailman crazy

I misread that, I apologize. You are correct. I doubt the Academy would delay sending BFEs to those who have principal nominations though, so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

Interesting that the first wave of appointments may be coming through. I wonder what that means for nominating sources that send in unranked nominations. Personally, my nominating source only nominated 10 people and sent them in without specifying a principal nomination. Do you think they will send an appointment out to someone from my nominating source even though there was no principal? Congrats to everyone that has received an appointment so far!

I saw something on USAFA's site the other day that said that 74% of MOC use the competitive unranked slate, 14% designate a principal with the rest unranked, and only 12% designate a principal with numbered alternates. I was fortunate enought that my senator used the last method (12%), with me as the principal.
ctuma2, I am curious what your Status shows in your Portal. Have you checked it? Does it say "Appointment offered"?

I suspect that it will take a while for the Portal to update. There is a delay built into the process to allow adequate time for the MOC to contact the appointee first. Plus the Portal seems to just generally lag behind the rest of the process.
I suspect this as well. The likely sequence: 1. notification by MOC, 2. arrival of BFE, 3. update on Portal.
It would be interesting to have some hard data, however, hence my inquiry.
It was actually this order for our daughter over the last couple of months: (1) call from MOC, (2) update on portal, (3) mailing arrived.

So I think it would be best if I stopped checking my portal? Because I would find out through my ALO or MOC before it gets updated, right?

Yes, checking your portal every 15 minutes is probably not the most productive use of your time at this point in the process.

You'll probably get a call much sooner than your portal updates. But I can't blame you for checking every 15 minutes (One Fight, One Team) I did the same thing

DS just came home from school. Asked him to go and get the mail. Jokingly added that maybe the BFE would be there. DS returns to house in shock.... In his hand is a BFE. He has Principal nom from our Congressman, so I would expect that those with principal noms are going to see something sooner rather than later!
