My son is there now as member of class of 2018. I can give you a helpful hint.....if you have not gone and can afford the trip you should go do a visit at the school...either a day trip or an overnight. When you do, you meet one of the directors of admissions and get interviewed in a small group. This is a time when you can shine and be more than just your stats....my son had good scores and grades but i have no doubt the decision was made at that interview. Since you live in Pennsylvania, it could be a car ride and perhaps not so expensive.

Yeah the overnight trip was awesome! I got to meet and greet all of the professors, admission officers and midshipmen. Also, my host is in EMT club so I tagged along and got to do things paramedics usually do, it was great. But now, the hardest part....waiting. Hope we all get that FedEx package!

Hello,

My status has changed to "hold" this week. I sent an email to admission officer inquiring about it, no response yet...
Just mailed my 7th semester grades yesterday. B in AP Calculus and B in Honors class.
ACT verbal 31,
Math 32
GPA 4.1
AP classes
4 years varsity Letterman wrestling - team captain
2 years varsity football
National honor society
Multilingual
State - NC
Obtained nomination in December

About 2 weeks ago I was contacted and asked to present my citizenship status, sent a copy of my US passport...

Last weekend wrestled in NCHSAA wrestling state championship, placed 9 in NC state in 4A division.

Should I schedule an official visit to increase my chances? Or is there anything I else I can do to get off the "HOLD" list into principal?

Update, just talked to the admission officer.
She said that NC is being under review and the spots are not finalized/filled yet.
A girl in my class was offered and appointment about a week ago, her credentials are far below mine, but she is a minority...

So, I just not sure what to think now... USMMA is my very strong second (USNA first choice) I dream to be a Naval Architect and to serve my country...

Your profile is was stronger than my was way back when, best of luck. Keep holding on.

@DanD when you have enough posts send me a PM.

How many posts are "enough"?
I also got NROTC full scholarship as a back up, got into The Citadel, will attend as plan B first year, will be applying again if not appointed this year.

App as of today showed on the portal as complete. Let the waiting begin.

Jmoney457,

I'm from Pennsylvania (PA), and am 100% cleared by the DoDMERB. From what I understand, plenty of applicants receive appointments later (than March). I really can't know, but thanks for the email.

Thanks,
SpeckledTrout
March 1st is the deadline for applications. Many kids have been given appointments. Many on the fence have to wait until applications close because a top candidate might apply last minute cause they have a nomination. Stay strong. All the kids that were given appointments had three option. Accept, Decline, or can wait until May 1st to answer. If you think you are close then you May have to wait until May. Let us know.

My application is still on hold, got an email from a wrestling coach saying he will submit a requiting paperwork for me...
Hope that means that I am in. But can't be sure just yet... Like I already stated, my credentials are competitive (I compared myself to class of 2016 profile)

DS got a TWE in the mail today stating that he was academically qualified and was on Hold and on the waiting list. What does that mean? Bad?

Back in the olden days, I was told that I was an alternate, and then given both my national and state rankings, via mail. I was also told that I was likely to be appointed. The appointment came through a couple of days later. . . . interesting that they no longer do that.

It basically means your DS is on the waiting list. I was on hold last year.
