One day left until Recognition...

Funny, they say the same thing at USMA. And USNA.

Really? They sure never said that when I was at WP! I don't think anyone ever thought we had the "best" years as upperclassmen. Having exchanged to USNA for a semester, I'm pretty sure we didn't. And everyone I knew wanted to exchange to USAFA because it was even better!

Guess the Corps Has...

(unless you were strictly referring to the toughest 4/c year part!).

My son (4/c at USAFA) and my husband and I had a long argument about this over the weekend while talking to him via Skype. He says the same that others are on the thread - that all the exchange cadets tell them that USAFA has the toughtest 4/c year and the best upperclass years. His quote from this weekend, that I hadn't heard before, was that the USMA cadets told him that USAFA has a "Fourth Class System" while WP has a "Four Class System". He then said that after Recognition next week, they'll have near the same privileges as a WP firstie (minus the car of course!)!

(unless you were strictly referring to the toughest 4/c year part!).

Bingo.

I can only judge by my brother's experience as a USAFA grad, and the input from the AF exchange guys we had.

Well, I'd be glad to have someone on my side in this argument! Son keeps saying "I can't see how it could be hard if they didn't beat you!" (ie drop for lots of pushups, flutter kicks, etc.).

I just want to say how proud I am of my cadet and his roomies and the entire class of 2014 and wish them luck as they work as a team (like a machine!) through recognition. See you all on the other side!

2014 Like A Machine

2014er's, 10 years from now you are going to look back at recognition as either in a negative or positive way. Your attitude, as always, will determine if it is negative or positive. Your attitude is the only thing you will be able to control. Your attitude, when pushed to the limits, will be what your upper classmen will be looking at. Heck even your classmates will be watching to see what your attitude will be. It's okay to have a bad day here or there, just don't let it be in the next three days.

2014 you deserve to be recognized.

LIKE A MACHINE

no more k-tests? psh, well back in my day, we still took k-tests even after Recognition.

:p

haha. best of luck 2014. Can't wait to see the latest class of RTBs earn their wings. give it your all and come out proud on the other side

Just for anyone doubting upperclassman oversight, the OPORD for Recognition is 84 pages long...

To all USAFA Cadets about to go through recognition, GREAT JOB in getting there! I understand that the 4th class year is very rigorous, and getting to this point is an accomplishment within itself!

This is gonna suck...see you on Saturday.

Later,

Brian

You sound like my son. Good Luck. Remember there is a reason you have gotten this far. How many of the classmates you started with last June are gone?
You are a good young man, I can tell by your writings. Go out and prove you are worthy.

It's definitely going to be tough, but lets try to have fun with it. Anyone else have their Anchorman quotes memorized yet? :thumb:

No one can hit you, starve you, maim you, or kill you. No one will shoot at you, or otherwise try to alter the course of your existence. How bad can it honestly be, right? It'll be over in a flash.

congratulations

Way back on I-Day, my wife and I were anxious about our son getting through first Beast. On that day, Jack's Valley, Acceptance, Parent's Weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas were events that seemed so far away that Recognition looked like Pluto on a map of the solar system. This morning I saw that the recognition clock was no longer reading days but only hours until we begin to pass Pluto. We can't express how proud we are of our son and each and every one in the Class of 2014. Congratulations to all our cadets (and congratulations to all of us parents for doing something right.) Kick ass you RTB's, we look forward to seeing you on the other side.
