One day left until Recognition...

Way back on I-Day, my wife and I were anxious about our son getting through first Beast. On that day, Jack's Valley, Acceptance, Parent's Weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas were events that seemed so far away that Recognition looked like Pluto on a map of the solar system. This morning I saw that the recognition clock was no longer reading days but only hours until we begin to pass Pluto. We can't express how proud we are of our son and each and every one in the Class of 2014. Congratulations to all our cadets (and congratulations to all of us parents for doing something right.) Kick ass you RTB's, we look forward to seeing you on the other side.

I absolutely agree!! i can't count the number of times between I-day and now that the conversations or mail with our 4c has been reinforcing that they got there and deserve to be there. It's only X days til the next event then x days til the next one. Small milestones small goals to achive in your first year help you make it.

Congratulations to all the 4c's that make the grade and get thru recognition!!!

It is my understanding that not ALL 4c's are going thru recognition. I have heard a good portion of the IC's do not go thru recognition. Is this true and what the heck? aren't they al the same?

That is true. I feel the kids that don't get to go thru it are getting ripped off.

Maybe they changed things, but when my son was a C4C, he was also an IC "Football team". He went through recognition just like everyone else. Maybe it's because they are out of season. Maybe the one's not doing the recognition are in season athletes like basketball or similar. But I know that 2 years ago, my son went through it all.

DS C4C well entrenched in fencing season is 'doing' recognition. NCAA competition a week ago, National DIV1 competition two weeks after spring break....He would not miss Recognition for anything.
Parentally however, I fear for his shoulder joint/rotator cuff/thighs/ankle/ cranium/wrists etc .....Alas, that bubble wrap was tossed out long ago.
LIKE A MACHINE!!

Wow! Hard to believe that a year has passed so quickly and my C3C was in the thick of Recognition this time last year....I was a nervous wreck for him! Wishing all the C4C's the best of luck! We're very proud of your hard work!

easy

My son at USNA says that indeed the first year at USAFA is the hardest of the SAs but that after that it is like a country club compared to the others especially USNA. Lets face it the USAFA guys/gals will need to start get adjusted to the life of luxury in the AF, all be going home at 4:00 drinking martinis while the Navy guys are workign those long hard days. I told son he shoudl have gone USAFA because golfing and drinking and lounging will seem much more acceptable once his young hormones settle down, but, no...he went to USNA where the men are men. lol.

Why did he go where the men are men? Don't ask, Don't tell? lol.

Long hard days in the Navy? Thanks for the laugh! :yllol:

They show all the four digs struggling with easy events, after they have been exhausted...figures that the wing media would do that...

2014 - Zeamer! Congratulations to all of you on a job well done!

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We just talked to our son after Recognition. The pride in his voice is only matched by the pride my wife and I have for him and the tremendous respect we have for everyone in the class of 2014. We're having many "toasts to the host" tonight.

Still feels like a trick, so amazing!!! Best day of my life!!

Later,

Brian
