We often have young people trying to decide between Marine Corps and Army careers. Great advice is given including land/ sea; size/ opportunity; etc. One aspectI haven't seen mentioned is highlighted in the last sentence of the last paragraph of this article.

This is a "truth" I saw first hand many years ago and it still applies today. In fact, it is almost a point of pride with Marines (as they complain to each other!).

Yeah, not so true anymore. The Corps has its $70 milllion/copy Ospreys and $100 million/copy F-35B's, and soon, mega-expensive CH-53K's.

Well at least the complaining doesn't change. DS is always explaining, "Dad, if I wasn't griping I wouldn't be a Marine." :D

Marines are allowed the griping as they're always , " the first ones in and last ones out.' [emoji4]

Great for this guy!

F-35B - "uniquely expeditionary," no one in congress will see us as "just a second land army" and start asking questions about costs and duplication and such.
MV-22B - see above
CH-53K - see above
Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle - oh, in case you were wondering, we named it the..., but, alas, even the debt ceiling has limits

New Ma Deuce? - meh, the Army has those - not "uniquely expeditionary."

Typical Marine myths. Nevermind their service-unique camouflage, their HK rifles, unique body armor, Oshkosh trucks, brand new howitzers, and on and on.

The only bigger USMC myth is "first in last out"...well, that or their slogans.
