Only 2 more days until Summer Seminar Invites come out!

Woot! Woot! My DD was selected for the SS. She is going to be so excited! I can hardly wait to tell her. She is still at school. Congratulations to all who get accepted, and for those who don't, do not despair. There are many other opportunities to go to a camp at the AFA in the summer. :jump1:

Congratulations!!!

Just checked the portal and the answer is.....YES! My son will be attending session 1! Hoping for good news for everyone else on this thread!

Not selected. Hope to get in off of the wait list or something, but I guess all there is to do is to keep on trucking.

I'm so excited for all you SS guys and gals right now! For many of you, there's suddenly so much planning to do, but it's for such a good reason! :D I hope you have the time of your life at SS! It's an amazing program and is definitely the ultimate college visit.

I have a brief word of advice for those who were not as fortunate. Remember that Summer Seminar does NOT guarantee an appointment in any way. In fact, USAFA is very forthright in saying that attending SS is not likely to increase your chances of getting an appointment the next year. It may be an awesome lifelong memory, get you "fired up" to attend the Academy, and allow you to meet new friends, but it will not get you an appointment. Just remember that just because you didn't get in this year, doesn't mean you're headed for a TWE next year! :thumb:

I'm certainly not trying to rain on the parade of those who were accepted, but just be sure to keep things in perspective. A brief testimonial: I have been blessed to receive an appointment from the USNA, and am currently USAFA 3Q'd. I was denied admission to USAFA Summer Seminar last year. I feel like I have come pretty far without it. Would I have liked to go? Of course! It would have been a privilege to attend! But it won't make or break your application. If you are feeling down about getting rejected, remember my story and that of thousands of other past and current cadets who were rejected from SS. I know it's disappointing, but don't let the e-TWE get you down. It's all about what you do from here! :zip:

DS was not selected. Such a disappointment. But congrats to those who got in :)

I' sorry, I know you must be disappointed but as Charlotte would say, "Chin up!" Remember, not getting into the SS has no bearing on whether or not your DS will get into the AFA. If he is interested in engineering he can go to the SAME camp. There are also sports camps offered that he can apply for.

Great advice! Couldn't have said it better! Yes, guys and gals, there are plenty who get into SS who don't get appointed and vice-versa! Don't lose sight of your goals if you didn't get in!

DD is in and has selected Session A...can go back to work now. In another 10 days she will get word on acceptance to something for the entire month of July and I will be able to finish summer planning.
