I would be curious to hear from the recipients of the 3yr and 2yr Marine Option scholarships resulting from the Spring board. I guess it might be some weeks or months.

Format:
School / 3yr or 2 yr / GPA / Billet / Major / PFT score
(e.g. Texas Tech / 3yr / 3.3 / Non / Poli Sci / 278 )

My Mid was told the Spring NROTC MO Sideload board will not be meeting this week and it will meet "later" but "nobody knows when".

Our DS heard from his unit today and was told the board did finish up last week and they should be hearing something by the end of next week.

My DS is still waiting, when you said the board met last week is that for all the regions? He did his interview in MA.

This is specific to side load scholarships for the Marine Option. So these are College freshman and sophomores. It’s run nationally not by region. Their MOI will recommend them with enthusiasm, confidence, or not. The get a 3 or 2 yr.

Thank you, sorry did not know what the side load meant, got it now, I’m just so anxious for any news for my DS. Can anyone tell me if any rejections have been sent out for the NROTC MO? Just trying to figure out if it means he is still in the running. DS does not want to reach out to Commander because he doesn’t want to come across as impatient or annoying.

Has your DS reached out to his application coordinator - the person he interviewed with?

No he has not, he didn’t want to come across as impatient or annoying to the Captain. DS said “dad if I get it I get it great if not I will join when I get to school”. Money is not the issue for me so I kinda agreed with him.

Hi. Sorry to hijack your conversation. I'm anxious to hear news too. Do you recommend my son reaching out to his application coordinator, at the very least just to touch base with him? Congrats to Aaron22 on son enrolling PU.

I think that is a personal decision. My DS had regular communication with his coordinator throughout the entire process.

with only a few days till most colleges want a decision, I think a polite well planned call and email if no connection is prudent, understandable and great exercise for your DS

He should contact the school PMS or Officer in charge of ROTC program to show his interest and let them know about him. We were trying to do in person visits as well. Our son did not get MO but received an Army Scholarship so he is in the loop with his ROO.
