Operation America Strong: Blue Angels-Thunderbirds Joint Flyover Mission

There was a superb multi-episode documentary on the Blues some years ago, which followed them through the entire flight season. I found the sessions where they sat around a table, using hands as if they were in their cockpit, and leaning exactly as if they were pulling Gs, listening to Boss as he went word-for-word through the show and they responded, the moment where you could see what serious business this was. They self-reported mistakes to the group and all would go over it together until they felt right about it.

If I remember right it was a Discovery Documentary. Pretty good. Probably 15ish years old. It’s still how the Blues are run today and how they pick the next group of pilots. Nothing has changed. Next year should be interesting when they transition to the Super Hornets. Or I guess whenever air shows happen again.

Does anyone have those discs they would be willing to let me borrow to watch with my son who is home from USAFA until this covid mess is figured out. He wants to be a fighter pilot and we enjoy watching these types of things together. I know it’s Navy but the Blue Angels are still freaking awesome.

Edit: Never mind I found them on YouTube

Not sure what group this is but they flew over my town today. Looks like they were headed to fly over the NJ Veterans Home at Menlo Park. The New Jersey Guard had to take over the facility a couple of months ago when the VA lost control. The numbers below are typical of many nursing homes in New Jersey. This VA Long Term Care Facility has had

181 residents (All Veterans) Covid positive
62 residents (All Veterans) Covid dead
100 staff Covid positive
1 staff dead
3 family members of staff dead
