Hello community,
I just received my letter of assurance today and it provides me an invitation to an overnight visit. Overnight visits are cancelled because of COVID, will they be back in January? If anybody has any information or thoughts I would greatly appreciate and love to hear them!

Maybe - Maybe Not

In all seriousness though, this is something so new to everyone that I really don't think anyone is able to guess what will be happening in January with any amount of certainty.

congratulations on receiving LOA so early in the app process.

Thanks, I’m ecstatic right now!

Congrats! Could you share some of your stats/ECs? Also, are you absolutely sure it was an LOA, and not just the email saying that if you finish your app you will be placed in the LOA pool? That would still be awesome, but not the same as an LOA strictly speaking.

I’m positive it was LOA, in the official correspondence box it stated it was, along with an invitation to an overnight visit, sadly those are cancelled. I have a 30 ACT (30 English 27 math 32 reading 29 science). I have a good amount of volunteer hours, along with 2 years of being team captain on my wrestling team; 5 varsity letters (4 in wrestling, 1 in golf). I decided to focus on wrestling doing it year-round after my sophomore year, I made this clear to admissions. Not very strong gpa but made it up with standardized test scores and lots of AP courses (3.69 if I recall correctly). I have a good amount of Work experience, I am a team leader at my job. I am also a re-applicant with most of my file done including my interview. I am only missing my college SOE’s, college transcripts, essays, and dodmerb qualification. I hope this helps! 👍🏻

An LOA is a conditional offer of appointment, pending the completion/passage of certain items. Therefore, the LOA correspondence should include a clear explanation of what that condition is, e.g. full medical clearance or nomination or satisfactory CFA or some combination of any aspects.

If the communication does not clearly stipulate condition(s), you might want to read a bit more closely. It could be an LOE, encouraging you to compete your application.

I apologize if I made the LOA seem unclear in any of my previous answers. I does stipulate conditions that must be upheld or else the LOA will be revoked.

Again, congratulations. Well deserved. Being a reapplicant probably accelerated the process? Did you start your application in June? How many weeks later did you get the LOA?

The LOA says Sep-Nov and Jan-Apr for overnight orientation visits. I think it is likely they come up with a safe way to do them for a small number of people within that timeframe considering they intend to hold in person classes.

I'm not OP so I cannot speak for him/her, however I completed everything on the application portal except for the CFA and CAR. I had the official interview with the local Field Force Rep last week and received an LOA in my email yesterday (not a LOE). I am not a reapplication, my composite ACT is 32, and I do have multiple leadership roles and extracurricular activities. I wonder if they decided to refrain from sending physical LOAs to people this year.

Congrats to you and the OP!

Who knows? Could this possibly be a trend towards (at least for this year) for LOAs to be issued earlier in the process to snap up promising applicants. Seems like it would be a smart move on Army's part with all of the uncertainty around delayed SAT/ACT testing, as well as the coming school year being disrupted, to further influence these applicants' decision towards WP sooner than later in the cycle.

Wondering if the other SAs might do the same to get a jump on each other this year? Navy just opened candidate portals this week. Over the remainder of the summer members may report more early LOAs from the other SAs as well.

I emailed my regional commander asking him how I can be more competitive for this cycle in early June, and he opened my file for me about a week later. I got everything done as soon as I could and about a week ago my FFR reaches out to me and conducted the interview. Yesterday I got the LOA. I would say it took about a month and a half from the opening of my file to the receipt of the LOA.

Hopefully, I really want to go. My FFR said all visitations are cancelled because of COVID, and he has no idea how long this will last.

I received an LOA in September, along with a friend. They push them early on to try and sway competitive applicants away from the other academies and top universities
