PACING

im 3'qd with a nom as well. Had my application done in september, these past few weeks have been killing me tho. I also have nrotc at UVA

Little different situation here. Son Has LOA + nom's, waiting on medical waiver. Knowing that there is a space reserved for him in the 2013 class but that it can be taken away with a denied waiver is agonizing
So close but SOOO far......
Sincere congrats to those who have received waivers and appointments. I have been celebrating with you as the good news has been trickling in.:thumb:
Cheering the rest of you on.
Keep the faith.

never posted on here, but i have been reading daily for months.

I am in the same boat as you guys: triple q'ed, two nom sources, finished my app in sept., went to NASS and going to CVW next weekend.... but I am still waiting for the reply from USNA, although I have secured a spot in the NROTC at rensselaer polyechnic institute.

This has to be the most antagonizing process ever !!!!

Good luck to you guys, praying really hard for the best news as soon as possible

waiting

Congrats to all those with appointments!
Good luck to all the candidates still waiting, and their great families.

In my opinion the future mids and candidates still waiting to hear if they are future mids are all super, fabulous, young people! How proud you should feel of your accomplishments and your desire to serve your country. No matter what happens, you have so much to feel good about.

Best wishes to all.

Thanks for all new comers posting! Whether it is a candidate or parent of candidate - think it is great to realize there are others just like yourself - so many terrific candidates and only so many spots - I concur - all should be given extra hug for being such fine individuals with their values and intergity intact!
While we set this up for my son, I am the one who has used it and as he says, give me a summary! At least my son isn't very chatty - but I have found the site very informative and as we get to the end very helpful - such good people wishing all well - maybe some not being of military background - but can tell you that is exactly how the bigger "military family" is - since the military environment was my childhood, I never understood that it wasn't that way everywhere until much later. So a special thank you for all of you - wishing each other on - sharing information. I hope you all have terrific weekend!

Still waiting

My son is triple q'd, has a nom, no LOA and we are still waiting too. Every day it's a race to the mailbox. I try not to even ask him if there was mail anymore, so as not to create more anxiety! Soon....

Best of luck to those who are still waiting

...as are we. I talked to our BGO tonight, who didn't enjoy delivering the bad news that if we hadn't heard by now, our son's chances weren't good. We also haven't heard on the NROTC scholarship but he applied late. There is good news from other schools but the USNA is his dream...

Good luck with USNA; but, if RPI NROTC ends up being your path, you will be in a GREAT unit! My son goes there and is very happy about it!

RPI ROTC?

My son is hoping for a USNA appointment but has been accepted at RPI. We're waiting to here from the ROTC board regarding a scholarship. Still waiting, but he applied late. We visited RPI in January - great school!

Well, good luck with USNA and the NROTC scholarship. RPI has a great NROTC reputation and has a very good track record for getting students a NROTC scholarship if they enter without the NROTC scholarship.

I know that feeling of waiting. Went through it last year! What a roller coaster ride!!! But, soon, your son will be able to tell everyone where he will be going next year!

i know how agnozing this must be for everyone but the good news is that I have read and heard from several different sources that the academy always waits until the last minute to send out most of their appointment offers they want to make sure that the best candidate gets in so if youre say waiting for a medical waiver know that they're waiting too

Mail Today

Well our wait is over, a letter came today saying that our son has been referred to USNA Foundation. I wish all those who are still waiting the best.

Dream only delayed and not denied. Congratulations.

Forgot to Mention

There were no more slots at the Foundation.

The scholarships for foundation are filled, it does not mean that you cannot pay for foundation on your own and then be in a good position for the class of 2014.

NT, you raise a good point about paying for the foundation school.

Let's say that someone is referred to the foundation but all the scholarship slots are filled, and the family can't afford any of the foundation schools. If the candidate attends the best school they can afford, takes Plebe-like classes and activities and performs well, wouldn't you think they would also be in a good position to re-apply to USNA?

Nothing today, im starting to get discouraged. By this time have most of the Appointments been sent our and they are now working on rejection letters?

Can't imagine that all the appointments have been given out, we're heard nothing here in Kansas.

Best of luck to everyone!

BEFORE you sign up for a Foundation school at your own expense, I suggest you contact CGO and maybe your BGO. Find out now whether a successful year at a Foundation school will make a difference in your child's chances for an appointment and whether this is a better/same/worse option than going to a regular college for a year.

Asking now could give you a great deal of hope or, in the alternative, save you a lot of money and heartbreak.
