Looking over the "To Bring to BCT" checklist, I'm noticing that pajamas are not on the list...

Is that because pajamas are an "of COURSE you bring that!" item?
Or is it because we're not supposed to bring them?

As melinda said, Basics are issued pajamas and a robe but the pajamas are a most uncomfortable, low quality set of clothing. DS just slept in his boxers during the academic year although he mentioned that some squads require Doolies to wear the issued pjs until Recognition. Many requirements are squad specific. Basics and cadets will be briefed on the squad expectations for this and many, many other interesting things.

My kid also said that she usually slept in her PC gear, and during Basic sleeping in full uniform was not uncommon!

As well as sleeping on the floor so that their bed's remain as near perfect as possible.

your own pjs would count as civilian clothes which is contraband until recognition. they give you lovely ones on I day.

I know I have a pic or two of my kids wearing their robes (and one still wears his; he's cheap and not a shopper, ya know?). I think they slept in pt gear.

Sleeping on the floor or in their desk chairs was a nightly regimen.

Thank you for all the informative answers! I really appreciate them!
