I have heard from a source that we would not be issued clothes or toiletries for the first two weeks and would have to bring our own due to the ROM. I have not received an email regarding this issue. Is this true?
 
There is one official source of information - USNA Admissions. Unnamed sources aren't reliable.
If you missed a message, someone here will pipe up, but I expect that USNA will being doing its normal issue.
 
Agree with Old Navy BGO, go to primary sources. That being said it makes no sense to not issue these thing, unless they're telling you to bring a couple weeks of clothes... which I doubt.
 
DS has shared all updates with me. They are printed in his report pile on the dining room table ATM.

They have pointed out, emailed plebes to bring running shoes as those will not be issued this year until after ROM. But you should have also received that update. Its also available at USNA.com.

The main differences as far as issuing stuff, that I have noticed compared to my older Mid, are:
-plebes arrive with their hair to standards (men, shave your heads!).
-you will receive your laptop right away (usually towards the end) to facilitate ROM/quarantine studying and classes.
-bring your own PT shoes. Don’t forget!

They are trying to limit interaction due to COVID. So no shoes, no haircuts until after ROM.

The incoming Plebes will be issued PT gear that they will wear during ROM. They should bring sneakers.
 
Rely on the primary source — USNA — not the proverbial “other” or “someone.” Trust the process. Yes, things are a bit different this year. But they’ve also been at this for a long time.

This is what I am saying...there have been updates to this beyond the original PTR. Plebes need to make sure and check their emails for the latest. To add to the confusion...some of the updated stuff has come from other than original email sources, so some has gone to peoples SPAM accounts (happened to DS). NORMALLY there isn't this much followup emailing/updating. It has been confusing this year, and I suspect there WILL be some that fall through the cracks as far as info. USNA is doing their best....we even received an email from our RC BGO with an update, in an effort to make sure the info is shared to the plebes.

Good luck to everyone. I suspect someone WONT have running shoes, as updated to bring just last week...and not in the PTR packet. Its inevitable, but unavoidable in this crazy COVID '20 year!!
 
It clearly states to bring running shoes on page 13. If someone doesn't bring their own shoes - they didn't follow the directions in the PTR Packet. I actually don't think it has been all that confusing - DS just followed this packet.
 
You know what Box Boy could’ve used? A pull cart. 🥴

(I do feel a bit for Box Boy. Guy made a simple mistake, and who knows, his parents might have “strongly encouraged” him. Hope he rose from this ignominious moment and now serves honorably as an AF leader. Sadly, in our ever-permanent internet world, it’s hard to live things down, and that’s too bad.)
 
Last minute packing for 2024. Use the “Noah” Packout on this one. Take “TWO of EVERYTHING” for Plebe Summer: GRIT, VERVE, and RESOLVE.

Noah and his kin didn’t have Hanes ComfortSoft boxers or tube socks. I pack 20 boxers and 20 pair of black tube socks wherever I go .... In fact, you can wear your hard working cloths and boots, and just pack your boxers, socks, tooth brush, paste, and gum picks .... That’s it.

And if you think you might be digging some ditches up to your knees or waist, or crawling around on the ground, it doesn’t hurt to bring a good pair of Overalls too. I prefer the Carhartt Double Barrel overalls, because the knees have a double layer on them that lasts a while.

Go for it. You want to show up looking your best.
